Amongst all the chest thumping by the Indians, they have conveniently overlooked one point.
If the Chinese pulled back after intruding into Indian territory, why have then the Indians pulled back from their own territory.
This question being asked by some politician.

The Chinese incursion resulted in 8 tents being set up by ITBP as response

These all tents were set up in area which troops are not deployed permanently but patrolling takes place.

the Chinese have withdrawn and left Indian territory.

Thus our soldiers which were keeping eye on them in tents have no reason to live there now

They will go back to pre-15 April position, we have not withdrawn but returned to our normal position.

Strangely, the Defence Ministry and the Army refused to confirm the withdrawal. Till the time of filing this report, there was no confirmation from the Ministry of External Affairs either. The government may make a statement in Parliament on Monday.

However, Press Trust of India has reported on troop withdrawal quoting “official sources” who confirmed an agreement was reached late on Sunday for both sides to pull back their troops simultaneously, and was completed at 7:30 pm.

But the stubborn refusal by the officials to even confirm what on the face appears to be a victory for Indian diplomacy gives rise to suspicions on the terms of agreement.

The concessions may involve Indian troops pulling back from their forward positions in some sectors close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

“The withdrawal leaves unanswered key questions. What Chinese demands did India accept. Has the People’s Liberation Army platoon retreated to its side of the LAC? Why has India withdrawn troops from its own areas,” security analyst Brahma Chellaney tweeted.

The govt of India has said no deals have been made, nothing has Been given to the Chinese in exchange for this draw down. The status quo has been restored and this was all the GoI wanted in the first place.



Whatever way certain members want to spin this, this news is a win for India now if India was seen as weak and soft as certain members have saying over the past few days/weeks then the Chinese had no reason to move back. Where was the volley of rocket fire onto New Delhi? Where were the PLA armoured divisions?


The GoI has got what it wanted, how can that be a win for China and a loss for India?

Before the news of the troops withdrawing was announced, some sources had said India might agree to remove some of the structures as "a face saver" to enable the Chinese troops to withdraw to their pre-April 15 positions. Analysts said if the Indian government had indeed agreed to make a deal with the Chinese, this kind of incursion would be repeated over and over again.

The Chinese intransigence had created a political problem with memories of the 1962 war and India's humiliating defeat by China playing in everyone's minds. Both the ruling Congress party and the opposition had asked for Khurshid's visit to be cancelled after Chinese troops refused to withdraw despite three flag meetings with the Indian side.
