We don't think anything about him.He is unknown and irrelevant for us. Simple. :)

He might be you national hero. Great. We don't have issue with that either.

we had sir syed ahmed khan fight against the brits....we had syed ahmed shaheed who fought against non muslims...not brits though...but these people are way before than this guy

the list is long of those who fought against the brits, it was us from whom india was taken by the brits,

just a correction: syed ahmad did fought against the brits plus sikh alliance.

Are you talking about Sir Sayed Ahmed Khan- the founder of Aligarh Muslim University? or someone else of same name?

We had many threads where we bash each-others. But honestly saying never faelt so sad after posting any thread or reading posts....

Agree with your sentiments bro .....i am saddened at the responses too but I'm not surprised , it is quite likely the entire history of INA and of Netaji 's role is totally skipped in Pakistani History books .

his significance seems to be valuable to his particular region in general and to some hindu patriots in particular. he is unknown to indians and will remain that way even in indian books...I cannot even recall his name but the bose part.

You should not use the religion word in relation to Netaji . There is a reason he was able to command the following he did , and do the things he could .....something which "No Other Indian " leader at that time could - not Gandhi , Not Jinnah , Not Nehru , no one .

In Indian books his entire contribution is covered . I dont know which Indian history book you referred to ....as far as you not recalling his name - its quite simple ...you never read about him, in detail.

The only issue here is The Indian Govt till now , from the time Nehru became PM has never , ever thought of giving him proper credit. No holidays on his birthday , no commemoration of any sort - Yes he is actively remembered by Bengalis , but the rest of India only just reads about him in their textbooks and thats it.

The man chose a path which was a million times tougher than sitting in India and going up to the "Firangi" Sarkar with a begging bowl for dominion status and such like concessions . I personally would prefer a fighting , struggling attempt over weak , reconciliation any day -- apparently its why most other Colonial independence movements dont respect our non-violent struggle very much .

I dont expect the Pakistani Govt to commemorate Netaji . When they dont respect Bhagat Singh then Netaji seems to far -fetched but reading unbiased history you should be aware that the man had the guts of a Tiger and a brain to organize an armed response and a govt "recognized" by " 9 " countries of the contemporary world ...something no other Indian leader could accomplish .

so he was a communist? like I said before he has got nothing to do with OUR freedom struggle against the British and Congress and its followers.

so leave him buried is better, then to dig his skeleton to make another idol. had he any significance in subcontinent he would have been remembered in common history books by history itself...

Leave it here.....better we dont discuss anymore.....Mods plz close the thread....

either you are trying to create value for your ideal which he doesnt deserve, or you think he is so sacred not to even be discussed, a bath maybe due !

Its no use ...Sab Da . His character and Values and contribution can not be explained to the current Pakistani generation ...they have too many pre-conceived notions, and have been subjected to too many decades of propaganda .

just look at the responses :

making no sense , rhyme or rhythm .....

This thread has run its course ....

Was SC Bose really a Nazi, or was this just a case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"?

Might as well include a discussion of Bhagat Singh as well while we're at it.

Bhagat Singh is often, maybe incorrectly, portrayed by some as being a Hindu Nationalist/Extremist....the little I know about him indicates this isn't true, so what really was Bhagat Singh's ideology?
