A constitutional republic. The federal government would control the big, broad issues like civil liberties, army, and foreign policy. EVERYTHING else would belong to the provinces would control smaller things, like minimum wage, alcohol restriction, etc. Also, a free-market based on the Austrian School of Economists.

The poll and choices are not structured very well.

For example, why is it assumed that democracy/republic is incompatible with an Islamic State?

Is the thread starter forgetting that the name of the nation we belong to is the 'Islamic Republic of Pakistan' and that under the Pakistani constitution all laws are to be in conformity with Islam?

False choices such as these both impugn democracy and mislead people.

A better way of asking the questions would have been:

Secular democracy

Islamic Democracy

Religious Dictatorship

Monarchy

Military Dictatorship

Communism/one party rule

if you think the thread is not structured well you have all the rights to change the polls. Feel free to do so

The intent to create this thread is simple, that is to know the opinion of the Pakistani public, making slight changings in the poll does not matters to me much.

By Islamic State i mean there can be different kind of Islamic Laws and if i go for Islamic Democracy, Islamic Secularism, Religious dictatorship, Shariah Law etc the poll options will be too many. So i wrote Islamic State to cover all opinions by religious peoples or those who think Islamic Law is better under curent circumstances in one poll only and i am very aware if we use the word Islam too many times, peoples keep diverting the main topic into religious debates so i wanted to keep this thread simple but meaningful.

Feel free to change the poll options as per you wish

Brothers and sisters Assalam u Alaikum,

I consider this the most important question for Pakistan than any other question, because it can change our destiny...

before answering this question please consider why Pakistan was given By Allah to us after an Exemplary sacrifices and efforts of our great leaders and our nation...

Pakistan was formed because the leaders and our forefather at that time wanted a land where "THEY COULD LIVE THEIR LIFE ACCORDING TO THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM"

Most of us even don't know the Islamic date when our Pakistan came into existence.. Brothers and sisters, those who don't know, it was the 27 of Ramadan when our Pakistan got independence....

And this was a message from Allah that I have given you this land so that you may live your life according to Islamic teachings of Quran and Sunnah...

In my view "Nothing can change the destiny of our country unless and until we adopt the Islamic Teaching in our life" ..

Everything we are facing today, whether terrorism , whether it be electricity , food shortages are (agree with me or not) because we have forgotten the Base of our creation... And agree with me or not Allah is Punishing us for all we are doing today in the form of these problem we are facing today , inspite of the fact that we very rich in all these resources of food and energy....

Pakistan Constitution says that "No law will be passed that is against the teaching of Holy Quran and Sunnah" , But still we have many things operating in our country that is against Islamic teachings.. For example, We have interest based Banking system operating in our country But Holy Prophet (SA) said:

"The curse is on the receiver and payer of interest and the one who accounts it and on the one who bear witness to such transactions"
(Sahih Muslim)

at other place Prophet (sa) says:

"Interest is such a big sin that if it were to be split in seventy parts, the lightest part of it is equal to the sin of committing adultery with ones mother"
(ibn Maja)

this is just one example.. We should adopt Islamic Laws in our life and try more to study Islam apply it, rather than spending our free time enjoying and wasting wealth... We and our government are the one who have to bring change.. we will not get any help from outsider in this regard...

hahaha, you think most of the people are like you that's why you made this assumption

i don't care whether i know 5% or 95%, being a muslim i SUPPORT The LAWS send by Allah & implemented by Prophet muhammad (SAWW) & his Sabah (r,a) in the form of a government, rather then some stupid human made system, ----

Well said... Allah is Al - Hakam which means The Law Giver ... We should accept His laws and the sayings of Holy Prophet (SA).

The Quran says in Surah Al Nahl
"and We have you ( O Muhammad) the Book (QURAN), so that this book may explain all things"

If we read and understand Quran and Hadiths Properly, it has guidance for us in every phase of Life, even in todays world, as the Quran is applicable on all ages......

This polling is just ridiculous. Brothers when Allah has already sent down his laws in the form of Quran and Hadith then who the hell are we to make up or own systems which suits us !
Simple logic is that when you create something, being a creator you give orders and everything and he cant disobey or can't go against your laws, so same is the case with Allah, he is our creator and he wants us to follow him, then who the hell are we ? I think its shirk !
And one thing more being a creator yourself, you will never want your creation to go against you but hey being a human we can go against Allah, what a double standard ?

Brother I commented in many comments that its definitly SHIRK.. ALLAH SWT is Al Hakam which means THE LAW GIVER. And no law is Supreme than HIS Law and His Authority is THE SUPREMME AUTHORITY... if one thinks that any other law is Supreme then its definitely SHIRK..

To all suggesting Shariah law.

I know where the laws are from, but i would like you to convince me that the laws will be beneficial for Pakistan.

You will say i HAVE to follow them, and that they cannot be changed, which is fine.

I want to know how you think they will improve our situation at the moment, economically, socially, educationally.

This is not an attack of any sort, you all have strong views which i respect, and i would like to hear more substance from your sides.

@^^

well, if you are muslim then i don't think u need anything else to know other then these are from Allah, and when you try to follow his path then Allah will help us in every field

but if you are not, then you can go through this:

Going through this thread tells me that more people want a democracy than shariah law.

I did say that i know where the laws came from, i wanted to know some details about policies that would be implemented with shariah, foreign policy, economic, social etc in your opinion.

Brother you can study the two volume book named"the Quranic foundations and structure of the muslim society" written by Maulana Fadlul Rehman Ansari. He was the Founder of Aleymiah Institute Of Islamic Studies , In Karachi.

Its a very big book in respect to its content but its very good.. It can be downloaded from net..... Also read books on Islamic economics ... But start from Quran and Hadiths because they are Supreme than the above stated Books.
