What's new

What is turning Gwadar Port into a white elephant?

I think its in Pakistan's best interest to speed up work on Gwadar port. Being a deep-sea port it has tremendous potential. I may be wrong, but when fully developed it could be the closest port for Central Asian countries. If a feeder rail and road link can be established with the northern areas, it will bring a in a lot of revenue.

time limit?

oh well Gawadar project will not complete for another 10 years or so........... there are number of on going projects in Gawadar and until Gawadar is not linked with Central Asian Countries and particularly with Afghanistan and all of Pakistan and Southern China with both Rail and by Road, this project is not completed. There are so many on going housing projects and other infrastructure projects including Gawadar International Airport, Hospitals, schools etc going on in Gawadar so until this is not completed we can't say the time limit has passed.

Mera bhai. Afghanistan is not stable yet. Theres troops from a dozen countries in Afghanistan. No one knows what will happen in Afghanistan by next year and who will rule that country.

Trust the Pakistani military, they always work for Pakistan's best interest. Pakistani navy is there in Gwadar for a reason. Its PPP you should be worried about, not Pakistani navy. Pakistan's interest always comes first, Pakistani military knows this.

InshAllah Gwadar Port will become a huge success in next 5 years.

Agreed with the point, but problem is we know one side of the story, has other side's point been presented ?? If PN signed the deal, then why the delay on part of PN. Has the govt not fulfilled some obligation or whatever other reason.

So i believe till we hear the full story, blaming one side won't be justified.

Hope PN will come up with their explanation and PN is under the govt, so it is govt's duty to make the thing going.

yeah it is possible they are waiting for this project to be completed before they evacuate the land

Kalmat Naval Base - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pakistan Navy is planning to construct Kalmat Naval Base at Khor Kalmat. Nearly 30,000 acres of land has been bought by Pakistan Navy

I checked from the map it is very close to Gwadar port

But still a statement from the Naval Admiral is required.
