A free-trade zone. The reason it is not yet ready because some country, such as the Philippines, haven't lessen the restrictions to the economy. If you are an investor, would you invest in a country where you only have 40% of control (and profits)?
It's a progress nonetheless, and there will be no completion for ASEAN, it's always progression that matter. As a block, ASEAN promise much hope for each member and pose greater incentive for other countries outside the block to interact and doing business with ASEAN countries.
ASEAN step will be moved according to its member readiness, if we can find common ground and interest to an issue, then this agenda can be pushed forward, otherwise we will leave this matter to each Government to act separately.
And that's not a bad thing.
Ya but ASEAN has no unity for things like that and the problems in ASEAN is evidence of that fact
Unity can be achieved if we want to listen and understand each other position and concern instead of pushing own agenda on ASEAN table. Find common ground and interest, common benefit than all voice will be united.
