What's new

What is PTI’s ideological voter thinking today?

Stick with Imran Khan and back him. He will deliver.

He is honest. Him being at top is exposing dishonesty and corruption in our society. Look at how bar councils of Pakistan and Pakistani 'free' media is exposing itself. Let this show continue. And wait. This is a long drawn war. Not a battle. This is Test match against corruption. Not T20.

PTI supporters are a joke and the biggest lotas everywhere.

Every question asked is answered by these lines

WHAT NAWAZ SHAREEF HAD DONE AND DOING NOW?

When you ask questions like why IK has appointed such incompetent and corrupt ministers as well as why IK has not fullfilled the promises he made to nation? Why IK has not provided any relief to the nation? Why IK has been not doing anything for the country except making foreign trips, planting trees (very commendable act though) and construction of Kartarpur?

Stick with Imran Khan and back him. He will deliver.

How is IK honest? He has made all the promises in the world and not fullfilled 95% of them. His words mean nothing, he's a liar. https://www.dawn.com/nayapakistan/

How is IK not corrupt? When he has corrupt ministers like Sheikh rasheed, Sugar mafia head Jahangir tareen and Fawad Chaudhry etc.?

There can be no ideological politics in an ideological state like Pakistan and neither is PTI, a POLITICAL party.

Mr. Khan had started the 'justice' movement in the country which after 22 years of struggle has not produced any result whatsoever apart from a weak coalition government sabotaged by electoral politics.

PTI’s idealogical base in the upper middle class of major cities is lower than its social media influenced mob base. Their votes were due to the fact that there was also a social bonus to be part of PTI as some form of implied revolutionary.

This base is no longer going to vote or a smaller percentage has exit strategies.
The remaining Gen Z’s of Pakistan who are eligible to vote will barely do so or vote along the tradition family lines.
They are the most disconnected and politically inept generation to come online with little needed to influence them besides 6 seconds of headlines on snapchat.

So the next PTI voter will be drawn more from the base that PPP and PML tapped . The poor, the downtrodden and the illiterate. The ones whose vote is bought with giving 10000 to buy eid clothes or BISP type programs, and is supported on vote day by a plate of Biryani.
I woukd go on the opposite line the base is more or less intact its the traditional pool that is flip flopping on economical hardships the base that voted for a hardline nationalist approach is still there

As a former PMLN supporter let me remind everyone what IK has done as PM and what MNS didn’t do.

1. IK outplayed two dynasties of Pakistani politics and gained the confidence of the establishment. MNS just repeatedly butt heads with them.

2. IK played his part in responding to India’s aggression. He spoke quickly and publicly. And then his forces delivered the response he promised. Where was MNS when India announced its 2016 surgical strike?

3. IK completely destroyed that Gujarati bandar and made the mallus go mad until this day. Other than giving them saris what did MNS ever do to India?

4. IK is a known name in Muslim and non Muslim countries the world over. I doubt if third generation Pakistanis overseas even know what PMLN is.

5. IK hosted the largest rally of overseas Pakistanis in the US. Last time MNS was here he was reading off cheat sheets.

As for his economic stewardship please give me a break. The economy was cratering thanks to 12 years of inaction, deficit spending and borrowing all underneath a thick layer of corruption. If PTI inherited a booming economy why would they tank it? If it took years and years to ruin it will take longer to fix. We gave MNS, PPP and others decades. He gets at least two terms in office. End of discussion.

As a PTI support that went to his rally in Washington DC, front and center, he only has till this summer (the end of the year at the latest) till he is seen as the incumbent and will have to start ramping up to try to get elected again.

He need to have a frank discussion with the powers in the country that they will have to concede some ground and if they want to keep attracting Overseas Pakistani support and that of the domestic upper middle class. If the “establishment” fail to support Imran Khan in the necessary reforms and payment of taxes, then the apathy will come back among the youth.

Real Corruption is refusing to live equally under the rule of law, not respecting institutions and trying to use nepotism to get ahead, all at the expense of the nation. Many of us are guilty of this, but some more than others.

If anything, if the government reforms these key structural corruptions in all corridors of power, then the youth, Kashmiri we are trying to attract, and foreign investors will welcome a PTI re-election. Fail to reform and we risk squandering our demographic dividend as Sri Lanka has done with its own internal conflict.

Not in the urban areas.

Not in the urban areas.
I would say particularly in the urban areas the narrative pti ran with the most was not based on economy but on national security and corruption
