What do people from anywhere think about Aurangzeb, do you think he was a good ruler or tyrannical ruler who was responsible for the downfall of the Mughal Empire?

He was a strong ruler, but he left his successors with a cash strapped empire and an aggressive enemy in the form of the Marathas.

He spent so much of the treasury to invade the Deccan, but the Marathas still survived.

Happen when army is of local indian hindu stock, most of them didnt want to fight their brethen marathas. He should have made peace deal with muslim afghans, because Abdali decimated same Marathas later on.

Aurangzeb was the last strong leader of Mughal Empire. He expanded the Mughal Empire to its greatest extent.

Marathas never fought a well-organized conventional campaign against him, as he was too powerful. Marathas were only "terrorists" hitting and running..hitting and running...

He was one of the better Mughal rulers, unlike the wimp Akbar who was more interested to please his hindu wife then rule as a Mughal emperor. But ofcourse, hindus here will disagree for obvious reasons.

LOL he beat up everybody he just couldn't wipe them out, his empire was intact and fell after he died.

Marathas made his treasury dried up. In Assam, forces of Lachit Borphukan beat the crap out of Aurangzeb's army.

@Nuri Natt @INDIC
Please both of you calm down lol, you can discuss this but try not to use swear words, aiming especially at you Nuri Natt.

He lost to the Ahoms and the Rajputs took back majority of Rajputana under his reign. Not to mention the Jat raids into his territory and Maratha conquests.

But didn't Aurangzeb lose the battle to the Ahoms? And didn't Rajputs reclaim all there territory under his reign?

Marathas were not an empire when Aurangzeb was around they were an insurgency actually the first real insurgency in the world. That is why they drained his treasury but the overall territory of the Mughals was at its height when Aurangzeb died and everything quickly fell apart of that.

Lol another bs from hindutva historian lol

Aurangzeb was great, unlike Akbar who was only interested in Rajput girls for most of his life.

Thus he saw the destruction of Mughal Empire in his lifetime while his army got thrashed up in every direction by Pashtuns, Jats, Ahoms, Marathas, Rajputs. :smart:
