We don't burn minorities like India. And BTW we were kind of f@cked by a secular Pakistan.
Neither does India! India has more minorities than the enitre population of Bangladesh. Learn to treat a riot like a riot. I am Muslim and have my ancestral origins in Bangladesh. There is a lot of misconceptions in our neighborhood regarding the treatment of minorities. We live very much normal lives and have equal constitutional rights.

Since then Two Sikhs became Chiefs of Army Staff and One the Prime Minster of India for two consecutive terms.

In Delhi, 442 of the rioters were convicted by the courts. 49 of these were sentenced to the life imprisonment, and another three to imprisonment of more than 10 years. 6 Delhi Police officers were punished for lapses during the riots. In April 2013, the Supreme Court of India dismissed the appeal of three convicts who had challenged the High Court's decision to award them life sentence.

442 were convicted but only 58 were punished?

This should be a self introspecting piece for the Indian political elites, for whom the Muslims of the country meant merely anything more than a community comprising appealing vote bank and fundamentalists, have regularly been assumed as the sole standard bearer of the entire community. May be it is high time to abolish all the personal laws, laws that violate the liberal, secular essence of this democracy and bring each and every citizen under the codes of equity regardless of religion and castes.

I dont agree with article. we are still segregated.. dont marry each other...
its basically a state of truce punchured by violence by both parties... there is no integration.

5 lakhs for a dead family member and you think that will solve it. Pathetic.
You will only be fooling yourself if you assume India, having relatively more traditionalist societies than any other part of the world, to be a perfect secular democracy that could not have been successfully achieved even by some monolithic, small and developed countries in the west.
