Kashmir is a region, perhaps with no or very limited natural resource apart from naturally occurring beautiful mountains and water source for bunch of rivers. Some time it is also deemed as strategically located region.
Though there is absence of valued natural resource, two, or rather say three of most populated countries in world are fighting for this piece of land or "Shahrag" for someone.

Just wondering, if Kashmir would have been an Oil rich region with more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia, what would have been the geopolitics or world politics. How major powers would have approached to this issue or what could have been the possible international boundaries of this region????

Want to see healthy comments of all members without any insinuation of troll. Thanks

Probably under Chinese or US control.

So to answer your question, i am going to post some comments made by American politicians.

Senator Lindsey Graham lustily talked about the death of Gadaffi. He said, “There’s a lot of money to be made in the future in Libya. There’s a lot of oil to be produced. Let’s get on the ground and help the Libya people establish a democracy and a functioning economy based on free market principles.”

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld told a Senate appropriations committee that the war with Iraq would be paid for by Iraqi “frozen assets” and “oil revenues.” This was not completely crazy - the first Gulf War had largely been financed by foreign countries who saw value in the oil supply lines we were protecting.

Conclusion; if American oil was found under Kashmir, it's obvious they would have taken it.

Please elaborate American oil, if oil is found anywhere in the world, it dosent have to be American oil necessarily.
And if Kashmir was open to be captured by any of the world power, Russians would have done it long back.

in that case US would have made sure that kashmir stays as part of india. US air base would have been in srinagar . there would be lots of US air crafts in IAF.
