Indian official policy and stand are not far from what indians say here. In fact indian official act of war against Bangladesh sovereignty is far worse.

The truth is India wanna take the whole sub-continent by force, CHina is the only power could stop this happen for sure.

If we wanted to take BD we would have done it in 1971.

We have friendly relations with BD and our neighborhood countries and we have always treated them as such. Even though our trade with BD is skewed in our favor we have compensated them with grants and loans.

In fact we have given grants and loans to Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka. We are biggest donors to Maldives and Bhutan. We are 5th biggest donor to Afghanistan. We even gave aid to our arch enemy Pakistan during recent floods. So, how can you say that we have some ulterior agenda in our subcontinent.

There are no free lunches in the world my friend... every country that financially helps other country expects something in return.. no matter how insignificant the gain is.

India is a huge threat to Bangladesh national security, especially regarding water resource.

Although I agree that the Farakka barrage is just plain stupid.. .. But what the Chinese have started constructing on the bend of the Brahmaputra is just evil. Like are all grand Chinese projects, this would surely be completed some day. It will be a disaster water wise for the downstream population viz Bangladesh and Thailand. China utterly disregards the protest of these countries and won't agree to face off in the WTO (drinking water is a resource). The strategy is similar to the rare Earths one. Nothing but more promises because as a democracy things go slow in our country. But they did give you $1000 million credit line in the mean time to keep you like good neighbors.

Sure our money our terms. You should be happy that we gave some easy terms on our loan. Try securing some money for your Padma bridge project.

Of course if we give money then we want our companies to benefit from contracts. Check your friend China... see if they do it any different.

But the $200 million is the grant money which you can spend on what ever project you like including your Padma bridge.
