What's new

What do you think about China (Your standpoint)?

Personally, I think China is a good nation. Good culture, people and food.

One thing that bugs me though is the corruption within the CPC. Corruption is quite a problem within China, mainly from provincial government officials. Another is the fact that CPC doesn't want to share the South China Sea with neighbors. If everyone in the South China Sea did a joint venture with China on oil drilling, then things could get better.

From my understanding we did offer to joint explorations with the countries concerned but they have refused.

Do you have a say in the change????

The change is made by the ruling despots inviting another group of despots whom the ruling despots groom for ten years.

you are just delusional
india is changing one bucket of mud water for another bucket
China is having one bucket with endless replenishment of fresh water

A country that has risen fast economically now in danger of being hated by almost all countries in Asia with the exception of Pakistan and North Korea.Hatred towards the Chinese is growing but under wraps for the time being.More and more Asians will shun using Chinese products-WHAT A SHAME following such rascal like foreign policy. China used to enunciate the following:
China believes in a multi-polar world-BULL SHIT
China believes in peaceful rise-BULL SHIT
and there are many more............................more BULL SHIT by China

.
In my view... china a developed country, which is growing even more faster in every sector and it might replace the US in future everywhere.... And almost 50% of the chinese people wore specs(Once i was waiting for my connection flight at bangkok airport, in the next lane passengers were boarding on a hongkong plane, in which almost 50% people including kids having spex.. Really surprised to see that, seriously for time-pass i had calculated the numbers one by one:-))

Not much good. Especially if you look at Tibet and east-Turkistan people they suffer a lot because of Chinese ocupation. And now Japan gets bullied. I hope Japan and south-Korea stand up and a coalition of the willing with US will make an end of this mess.

They might be source for cheap labor. I mean without them I would probably have to pay 25-50% more for certain products but I think we milked them out enough. An all out boycot of Chinese products should begin resulting in Chinese collapse and liberation of the opressed. International markets can easily transfer production to India and others.
I ve ever heard a saying from a turkey person. Turkey's interests grange from the Mediterranean to great wall, this is the most fanny thing i ve ever heard.

Most of the countries nearby are afraid of China rising because they know the potential of china and most of them had feeling bad status in the past with china.

Dont care about others. Just let china be china.
we need to develop our economy first, then political reforms. I dont like CCP but love the country especially the nice people and food, culturte.................. so many

What everybody fear is whether China copy their designs or not !!!

The PRC reminds me of Germany during the 1930's. The future does not look good for Asia.

Well this my opinion about China in a whole
I have great respect for what China-people and government has done throught out the years. They have proved the impossible is possible by lifting the largest amount of people from poverty. They have transformed themselves from a snail to a flying cheetah. There is no parallel in history of mankind for what china has done, and I doubt there ever will be.
On the other hand, the iron fist with which people are ruled over by the government diminishes all the glory and shine. However, the point stands that this level of progress could've been close to impossible without such iron fist rule. However it is not possible to suppress people's desire for freedom and free will. Its for the chinese people to decide, whether to live in their golden cages,or fly in an open slum. Whatever it may be china will have a irrevokable position in the pages of humanity for its awesome contributions to mankind.

That's the thing though, I never felt like I was in a cage.

I was born in Hong Kong, which is considered "free". I spend a LOT of time going Mainland China. I have lived in Europe for a few years, traveled around the world to every single continent and most major countries.

I never felt like I was in a "cage" at any point. The only exception maybe was when I was flying into America for a holiday, their airport seemed really hostile with a lot of suspicion, though that is fair considering 9/11 and all that.

Sure, there are "some" people in China who get jailed because they are too politically troublesome, trying to overthrow the government. But for 99% of the Chinese people, living ordinary lives, there is no cage anywhere. I'm from a very "free" city (Hong Kong) and I've never felt "oppressed" in the mainland at all, if anything I felt a lot more relaxed there.

You can find a billion more examples all over the international media.

Anyway, the big difference between the Mainland and Hong Kong SAR, is that in my city (HK) anyone can start a political party and challenge the government. In the mainland the process is more difficult, only a few people managed to do it.

How about the controversial one's like the one child policy?

According to the Wall Street Journal, there were 180,000 protests in China in one single year.

Unrest on Rise as China Booms - Wall Street Journal

Yet according to the Indian members here, Chinese aren't even allowed to protest? So why do we have so many protests if we are not allowed to protest?

@acetophenol, you should visit China yourself one day. Then you will see first hand what is exaggerated and what is not.

How about the controversial one's like the one child policy?

The one-child policy was just gotten rid of, partly because it was becoming so unpopular. Didn't you hear the news? It was all over this forum.

Now it's more of a two-child policy. Though you can have even more than that, if you are willing to pay the fine.
