What Are You Listening to Right Now - Round 2

My urdu isnt that good but I could understand a good portion of it - even if you dont
it still sounds dope af especially after 3 pick
@Great Janjua @Valiant @_NOBODY_ @jamahir @DrJekyll

My Urdu isn't great either though I understood 'Hum dekhenge'. About 'Aaj bazaar me' I didn't understand a lot of it so I will ask @SIPRA saheb to kindly post a translation, though the music by Nicolas Jaar and the singing by Ali Sethi were superb.

I must inform you that 'Hum dekhenge' was used in the protests in India in 2020 against the anti-Muslim CAA / NRC act and then also later. The Hindutvadis didn't understand that Faiz was a revolutionary leftist poet who almost established Communist / Socialist governance in Pakistan in 1951, and they heard the words "Jab arz-e-khuda ke Kaabe se jab sab butt uthwaaye jaayenge", didn't understand that the words spoke about overthrowing the corrupt system and the rulers and their minions, and declared "Look, these ebeel Mozlims want to bring Islamic rule to India !". :lol:

'Hum dekhenge' is a song for world revolution.

Thanks for tagging. Translating poetry is particularly a difficult job. I am sorry, I don't have the ability to do it, because of my extremely limited command on English. But, if I get hold of some standard translation of this "nazm" of Faiz, I will post it and tag you.

Many thanks. That is what I forgot to convey - a translation you might yourself have done a while ago or one as you say a standard translation.

Go to Google. Search " aaj bazaar mein translation". Many translations are available. I don't know, how to post links.

Chillaxing to some quality vinyl.

I love his songs, his singing reminds me of Attaullah Khan - unique voice that no one can copy, subtle sadness in his voice that makes you wanna hear it again and again
mostly Balochi songs but some Urdu ones too
Urdu one

Kaifi Khalil - Kahani Suno 2.0

Although Balochi ones are usually more hip, and urban sounding than the Urdu one

Kaifi Khalil - Dilbar Dila Bide

I hope his career takes off cause he is clearly very talented
