Yes. The first movie -- portrays the carnage that happened in Nanjing, and how one Japanese soldier reacts to it -- he experiences an awakening -- in the end. Its very thought provoking.

The second movie -- attempts to show the human side of Kamikaze -- which is rarely touched upon by history books because they're so often vilified.

Both movies, in my opinion, provide balance.
