Best Answer: If you narrow down your question to say "How are the Bengali people of Bangladesh different from Bengali people of India?" then we can have fair chance to write short Answer, as follows:
Bengali people of Bangladesh looks like the same as Bengali people of India. However, majority of us here in BD follow Islam and we are called Muslim. And majority of there in West Bengal (India) follow Hinduism and they are called Hindus. We share almost identical language Bangla which has same script, but our accent and choice of words vary greatly between these two Bengals.
Over the years of rule under tow entity where we were ruled by the Pakistan from 1947-1971 and developed slightly different culture that had influence of Islam and Urdu speaking Pakistan on us. On the other hand the Bengali from West Bengal (India) has been under continuous influence mostly from the central rule of New Delhi government and Hindi/Punjabi language on their own culture. The outside influence has made Bangla language more adapt to the neighboring states in India as well as in Pakistan (till 1971).
About the race, you can fairly say that majority of us in both the divide of Bengal are from Dravidian race. We do have fair-complexioned people among us, thanks to the worship of the Gora people and our use of 'Fair & Lovely' types of creams and lotions to make us as 'white' as possible. Thereby, enhancing our claim that we belong to upper-caste/class...lol!
We are Khaas Asian type and we are called Desi or Deshi (probably denoting our root from Indian subcontinent where we had Swadeshi Andolan to oust the Britishers from greater-India in early 20th century till 1947)
infact 3 major states with strong regionalism are bengal, maharastra and tamilnadu in my opinion.
