What a Shame ! Earth Hour, Lights off at Mazar-e-Quaid and Mazar-e-Iqbal

Hi, can anyone tell me what these mean? : Mazar-e-Quaid and Mazar-e-Iqba
I know quaid means jinnah but thats 'mazar-e' for?

There is no problem it was done to show solidarity and unity, though if it were up to I wouldn't have done so but you should not take offence to it. Even the lights of president and PM house were turned off, but not all as there is a security risk.

Basically my point was, why media is highlighting Quaid and Iqbal's places dark. whereas there can be hundreds of other places where lights can be switched off to celebrate funny earth hour. Whether their hidden agenda is to weaken the Quaid and Iqbal's ideologies by painting them black at top media level and degrading their dignity in public's mind by showing them dark.

Tonight Geo news at 9 pm showed a report about earth hour. I am shaken by listening when they specially focused on two important places. Lights switched off at Mazar-e-Quaid and Tomb of Allama Iqbal (Mazar-e-Iqbal) and made them Dark. What a shame for our Nation. I couldn't find the clip of that news which showed total darkness at both tombs.

Quaid and Iqbal who enlightened and illuminated our lives with their vision. Govt. responded by darkening their holy places.What message they are giving to us?

Hell to this earth hour when whole country is facing hours of loadshedding.

Wow man... salute to you (on the bolded statement). Has the world forgotten the ideologies and teachings of the great men in the past for the lack of electricity? Has the world forgotten Socrates, Aristotle or Plato, just because there was little or no electricity to light the monuments build in honor of them?

Ideologies and principles should be in your mind... you shouldn't even need a monument to remind you of your nation and its founding fathers, leave alone the lighting.

Who says we Pakistanis are behind the world? Our government organizes earth hour almost daily (if not weekly) definitely for more than 1 hour in Pakistan whereas other countries organize it once in a year for 1 hour only!

If their will be a prize for the best organization of this event internationally surely Pakistan will win as the government celebrates it enthusiastically everyday.

Showing the important buildings of the country without electricity is just a media gimmick. Let the world see the earth hour organized by the government daily and the amount of energy saved by not supplying electricity to the normal person and thus cutting drastically on the green house gases put in the air and Pakistan will be seen as a country respecting the environment all year round not just one day.

UN got impressed with the policy of the Pakistani government in this regards so much that they are now thinking of organizing earth hour daily.

Shame on the government and all those in the government from the top head to the last corrupt head in the government and the opposition and all the political parties who do not know "politics" but only know how to get their pockets filled many many times over the maximum capacity of their pockets + wallets + bank accounts + hand bags etc.. and let the people suffer as if they are animals.

I wish that we see them some day along with their sons and daughters and relatives all being treated like animals for all their remaining lives, Ameen

Get over these little things, and focus on more important issues at hand.

This may not important for Indians, but for us this such little things made a lot of difference.
