What's new

What a good day for Indian sport!!!

Field hockey has lost its appeal since it became an expensive sport.

The sharp decline is quite alarming

You forgot this chap..today he is through to finals of Australia open.

NEW DELHI: In what can be called one of his most dominant wins, India's Kidambi Srikanth extended his fine form in the Australian Open Super Series by reaching the final of the event with a resounding 21-10, 21-14 win over fourth-seeded Shi Yuqi of China. This is Srikanth's third consecutive final having ended runner-up in the Singapore Open and winning the Indonesia Open crown last week. He is also the first Indian male badminton player to do so.

That happened because Indian crowd was dishing abuses from the stands and this happened as a reaction. It's just like how Shami lost his cool to a fan's comment from the stands after the Champions trophy final.

Man talk about bad blood this is the first thing that poped up when I searched India Pakistan hockey.

Apparently its from the last match after Pakistan won and decided to flipp off Indian crowd

Im surprised how India didn't take this personally after winning

That said, give credit where its due. Indians have vastly improved in every sports as compared to Pakistan, there is a structure in place as well as lot of money flowing in; India is not just winning against Pak, they're winning by big margins. In CT final, they had the misfortune of facing a Pakistan team which was in full groove, and in that state of mind it would'd trounced any team on that day. When Pakistan peaks, it peaks higher then India, but the troughs are more shallower as well.

Institutional lethargy and lack of funds is killing sports in Pakistan.

.
tight contest? they defeated India with 7 wickets and few over to spare even when India scored 321
Its funny when you guys bring excuses and justification for defeat by calling it bad day instead of giving credit to winning team that they have played better cricket
yes our hockey is declining as they have many issues including funding while you should be able to compete with top sides because you have hockey leagues running in your country

A team which is performing consistently and scoring over 300 runs in almost every match was all out below 200 on the final.

Which means Indian batting line up had a bad day !

India continued to torment Pakistan in the Hero Hockey World League Semifinals, hammering the arch-rivals 6-1 in a 5th-8th place classification match, in London on Saturday.

Ramandeep Singh (8th, 28th) and Akashdeep Singh (12th and 27th) struck a brace each while Harmanpreet (36th) sounded the board in the third quarter in India's comprehensive victory in
the match.

Pakistan pulled one back through Ajaz Ahmad (41st) in the third quarter while Mandeep Singh (59th) completed the tally for India in the dying moments of the match.

The win is India's second in a row over Pakistan in the tournament after a 7-1 result in their first match. The Indians will take on Canada in the 5th-6th place match on Sunday.

The first quarter belonged to India with play mostly restricted to the Pakistan half. Ramandeep put India ahead in the eighth minute when his reverse flick beat the Pakistan
custodian.

Akashdeep had a chance to double the lead four minutes later but it went abegging. He received a pass from Ramandeep, ran into the circle alone and had only the goalkeeper to beat
but could not control the ball and ended up missing the goal.

Talwinder though did not make the mistake in giving India their second goal as he deflected a rasping cross from Pardeep Mor from the right.

India took the game away from the arch-rivals in the second quarter with three strikes that handed India a 4-0 cushion at half time.

Pakistan had hardly come to terms with the onslaught when Akashdeep (27th) struck from the left flank as he lobbed the ball past the goalkeeper and the ball hit the bar before
crossing the line.

Leaving the Pakistani team in complete disarray, Ramandeep struck for a second time. SV Sunil sent a pass into the 'D' and a fully stretched Ramandeep just had to connect to
send the ball into the goal.

Harmanpreet converted a short corner to make it 5-0. Ahmad reduced the deficit, taking full advantage of a rare defensive slip by the Indians.
the only game in subcontinent is Cricket so you can talk all about what you like, but the game is cricket. so stop trying to rid your frustrations by bring other games, cricket is the game for subcontinent.

Indian cricket team is superior to Pakistan cricket team...that day was a anomaly. Luck also played hugely in Pakistan's win. It was a win for Pakistan that they didn't expected.

One day the media raises you so high that everything down looks trivial, the other day the same media stomps you down in such contempt that everything looks doubtful. One day the fans cheer, the other day they cry; a bad time to be a fan, I guess...:(
