Wg.Cmdr Ronald Afzal Flew J-10 B against PLAAF own jets

Hi,

That is true, but we need to see what B-52 is. It is essentially a simple Truck...an 18 wheeler that can carry tonnes of bombs. It was never relevant in the cold war SAM crazy days and neither today with potent Air to Air and SAM systems. B-52 comes in after your high tech SEAD fighters have destroyed this infrastructure, and they simply go in, drop the bombs.
However, over the years 'carpet bombing' has evolved into more like a specific target shoot out with guided missiles. So you don't really need a heavy bomber like that, gone are the days of Vietnam of Korea or WWII where entire cities needed to be wasted. So by it role it can remain in service as long as it's physical structure holds up....whether that is another 30 years or hundred years. Or you can use it as a platform for EW conversion.

Sir,

This is a totally different B 52------. It is possibly going to have a massive aesa radar and jammers----it will carry long range air to ground missiles on rotary launchers----it will also be able to carry LR BVR missiles as---and would be taking all the air superiority fighters from longer distances that the other aircraft can counter from.

It will have a Rotary Weapons Bay that can carry a variety of offensive and air superiority weapons----

Upgrades aim to extend B-52 bombers' already long lives - latimes

And you guys know what the funny thing is----a writer by the name of Dale Brown wrote about this aircraft in his work of fiction in 1987-----.

Hi,

Fighter aircraft last between 30 to 50 years.

The U S is upgrading between 6 to 8 B 52 bombers to meet the future electronic warfare---this aircraft is older than me and after being refurbished---would last for another 30 plus years.

Sir, no doubt this is a legend. Here one should consider:
Why is the US upgrading this aging aircraft and not investing on a new one?

The simplest conclusion is that Pentagon considers that after 20-30 more years they are not going to use any thing like this so it is not a good idea to replace this rather one should only upgrade it to the needs of today.

In the next the US is considering Star Wars type of weapon systems hence all these weapons that are being used toady would have no use...

If am not wrong its only plane can carry multiple nuclear warheads and Cruise missiles. Also new upgardes are done in 2008, another communication upgrade due in 2015. This monster is not going anywhere any soon.

Yes Dale Brown being himself a Airforce bomber officer wanted this to happen.....

Hi,

As I have read so many of them----I have a firm conviction that there is a lots of material available in the works of fiction.

A lots of stuff that dale brown talked about in his works of fiction---we are seeing some of it now---.

Hi,

The U S is investing so much in the old horse is due to the fact that it will become the most advanced heavy bomber in the arena that can also defend itself from BVR ranges and smash its enemies from 250---350 miles away by launching smart weapons----.

With anti radiation paint and other features that will give this aircraft extremely low visibility and it will do its job and be long gone before its existence is known.

The monstrosity of this aircraft can be fathomed out by realizing that all these weapons that you are seeing lying in front of it maybe smart weapons.

There is nothing out their in the opponents arsenal that can reach so far out and wreak so much havoc just from one platform and that also by staying anonymus.
