NForce,
Nice to see a reply from you. If by "education" you mean not questioning the status quo and accepting what you have been told to, then I am afraid am truly uneducated and you are right.
Answer the following questions please, these are very simple yes or no questions
1) Do you believe Govt needs to dictate each and every aspect of your life?
2) Do you think you are able to decide on yourself what is good or bad for yourself?
3) Are you capable of taking decision as to what substances to use and what not and are responsible enough to face the consequences?
If you answered NO to any of the above questions, then my friend, I understand why do you want to look to govt to keep you away from the menace of "drugs"
BTW, while we are on topic, name one country that has won the "war on drugs"?
Quite interesting indeed.I have seen many guys doing drugs back in my college.I am not sure even they will be able to put up such a support for drugs.
I dont believe that the govt. should dictate each and every aspect of life. But the govt. is not an alien body imposed upon you.It is made for the people, and in most of the parts of World,by the people too.Govt is responsible for maintaining the fabric of a civilized society.
I can decide whats best for me,but many people don't.There are many people out there who simply get lost in drugs. It is for those people we need to have strong anti-drug policies.A rapist may think its his holy job to rape somebody,a murderer may think it is his duty to murder but these are heinous crimes indeed, just like selling drugs. It is that drug salesman who ruins the life of many by selling it.Those who are taking it,are not only endangering themselves, but also putting their family in jeopardy and promoting it in the same time.It is the govt. policies and the police that we look forward to when it comes to curbing these social evils.
Ask your third question to a drug addict and you may be amazed to hear his answer.
There are very few countries like Saudi Arabia which has been successful in stopping drug trafficking ,but again, thats not the point at all.As a matter of fact, this is the most hilarious part of your argument.
"If you cannot stop it,then legalize it".Is this what you mean???Following this logic,we should legalize murder as well isnt it???
Enough talk about 'free will'.Let me know --
1.what are the good effects of using drugs,on an individual as well as a society???The question is not why should not we legalize it.The question is why should we legalize it.
2.Are you a drug addict yourself???Do you have a past history of drug abuse??If 'YES',then I can very well understand why you want drugs to be legalized. If 'NO',then it is pretty hypocritical on your part to want others to use drugs while you yourself refrain from it.
