External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in an interaction with the media after marathon talks with her counterpart, Wang Yi, said on Sunday that the Chinese side endorsed the Indian perception that differences between the two countries on the alignment of their territorial boundaries would not be handed over to the next generation.

She acknowledged that the leadership in both countries had the “political will to think out of the box” to find a solution to the problem that had triggered the 1962 war.

India’s Special Representative on the boundary issue, Ajit Doval, will be arriving in China ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit for detailed talks with his Chinese interlocutors on this subject, she said.

During talks, both sides concluded the “exchange of notes” on the new alternative route for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage through the motorable Nathu La pass in Sikkim. The journey time from the Nathu La pass will be reduced to 12 days, compared to the 22 days it takes to complete the arduous journey through the Lipu Lekh pass in Uttarakhand. which includes a nearly 60 km challenging trek.

Five batches of 50 persons each will commence the journey in June from the new route, Ms. Swaraj said.

Asked to comment on India’s position on participation in the China-proposed 21st century Maritime Silk Road (MSR), Ms. Swaraj said that instead of a blanket commitment, India’s participation in the project was “synergy-based.”

Diplomatic sources told The Hindu that India, as of now, was willing to participate in specific segments of the MSR, including the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) economic corridor. The BCIM would link Kolkata, with Kunming via Chittagong in Bangladesh, and Mandalay in Myanmar. Ms. Swaraj had, on her way to Beijing on Sunday, stopped over in Kunming, the capital of the Yunnan province that shares common borders with three ASEAN countries — Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam.

No wonder if we accept to go back to Mc Mohan line .This solve the issue completely. It means before 1962. Aksai chin should be returned in turn we could recognise Tibet as integral part of China . Let's wait for 3 months. We already doing land swap with Bangladesh to resolve intrusion and border issue. Hopefully will pan out well

India can never give up on these issues ............there is no chance of resolving this issue .............China will never back off ... this is hype of indian media that is all ... they create hype on small things ... and plant stories ..

Not Happening the only Possible solution is we renouncing our claim on Aksai Chin & China recognizes their claim on Arunachal Pradesh

Both of these are for me the important takeaways of this low key but important visit...thse statements imply a growing willingness to resolve the major irritant btw india and china......it looks like Modi`s china visit might be pathbreaking...intresting times ahead

This is not the same case like that was happened in last year.
Now we are talking in points of strength. They have two choices .
One is solve entire border problem and we can further increase the relationship with them both in trade and other sectors.
Two is Avoid our concerns .We will surely increase our relation with US .Not like that was in Republic Day .But more deals and exchange .They can question poor SCS nation. But that is not going to work with India .We are not that powerful like China .But we can stand against them.

The ball is in their court and it is their choice.

Lol u will see in few months. Talks were on this issue when Xi came to India. But your PLA dint agree to it . Hope you know what happened in China after he came back. He ordered PLA to fall in line with CPC . More over China is not fool to fight for a waste land . Future prosperity is in friendship with India. Why do you think massive build up with A5 at the same date of Sushma Swaraj trip to China. It's all called diplomacy .

India China may say that no first use of nuclear weapons. But when a country is invaded they will use nuclear weapons for sure .Or else no use of spending so much on Nukes. When you are waiting for some one to nuke u first. Think .

India should accepted the trade off between aksai chin and Arunachal pradesh when India already recognized Tibet as Chinese part.
