IMHO..this is just diplomacy....Truth is that India cannot do anything if China chose to construct a dam/divert water...Unlike India-Pak we have no pact with them...so there is no international organization whom we can complain etc...

He has not been elected directly by the people. he is Rajya Sabha Member from Assam. He has been elected by MLAs and MPs not directly by the people.

80% of the catchment areas of the river lies in arunachal pradesh. So not to worry. there wwill be some damage,but we can pass on that damage to our dear neighbours on the east who hate us. if they raise water sharing we can ask them to please contact China who they love so much. maybe china will give them water in ships in exchange of free labour and naval ports that will threaten india.

Yes, Bangladesh will have major impact. But i was wondering, Why any Bangladeshi poster has not commented on this move by China ?? After all, their loss will be very big. Also, In Era of Diplomacy, It would effect our West Side river(Indus) flow also.
