Its a country, not an omnipotent power. Lets realize this before getting carried away.

Nobody listens to the US when their own interests are on the line. This goes for Turkey and Arabs concerning Pakistan. Some of the latter have interests in Pakistan's security and strategic assets which outweigh what they owe to the Americans. But lets leave that aside since Pakistan cannot and must not count on anyone but itself in such challenging circumstances.

On the issue of LP, I think members are getting excited about nothing here. Pressler had his time and he did what he could. He tried to hurt Pakistan and did to a certain extent, but in the end Pakistan got its way by not only acquiring the weapons capability but also expanding it significantly and thus in the end achieving exactly what Pressler was attempting to avoid.

That he says the things he says is also fine given he is a member of the Indian caucus and his constituents amongst the Indians who host him on all sorts of junkets to India expect him to say such things. This is par for the course in US politics where lobbying by various interests groups plays an important role and drives the behaviour of the politicians.

What Pakistan has carefully considered is the way Iran and NK have gone about not giving an inch on their red lines as their own survival depends upon it against enormous American/allied pressure. This means Pakistan will literally "eat grass" but will NEVER give up its nuclear capability for the same reasons. The Americans certainly have the capability to come and grab some, destroy others but to my point, they are not everywhere and neither are they omnipotent. Also worth considering is that tackling Iraq was a behemoth of a challenge with 60M people. Afghanistan a little less so. Pakistan a country of 210M people is a far, far more challenging task to take on for any country no matter how big or powerful! I will also venture to say that before Pakistan is forced to give up its strategic assets by way of force, it will certainly exercise its "Samson" option which potentially includes exercising the "use it or lose it" clause and secondly by delivering the capability to other friendlies and thus expanding the group of countries with such capabilities specially in the Muslim world and completely upending the NPT for good.
