this is some of my most concerned question regarding PAF
in the late 80s we bought nearly 40 f-16 and than later 14 more f-16s in 2005
but now figure is just 45 due to attritions
so to fill gap why are we just buying 36 j-10s and
forget those f-16block50/52 I think there no longer remains any chance for their sale to pakistan...

according to my estimates and my own calculated statistics
by 2015-16
we will be having 150 jf-17 against 220-2 su-30
44 f-16s
against 100-120 indian mirage 2000 & mig-29

and 50-61 f-7pgs(interceptor)
against 120 indian mig-21(bison)
hopefully,

so my concerns arises here that we are little bit less
in J-10b numbers
i think it should be "50" instead of current requirement of "36"
because as we know there are 126 mig-35 coming from MRCA competition

We' ll buy unless our economy is better, besides, that cost too much. we might need to buy the Chinese secondhand J10A which is much cheaper ones

Thats a good thread, detailed and I know PAF should have invested more on the J-10s :tsk:

folks we are not going to buy these birds right now
so
after five-six years things are going to be a lot quite different
and hope so if economy does well in the next five to six fiscal years
then the demand of 36 j-10 would easily go to 50 j-10
or even higher
i think 50 j-10 would be enough to havdle 126 mig-35 alone

F-16: I will be happy not to have the F-16s because there is a constant threat for the supply of spares etc.

I am sure PAF will have more than 36 J10Bs as funds become available.

Please keep in mind that IAF is not going to place all of its SUxx inventory against PAF in a war scenrio because of logistics and their other border concerns.

Numbers does give an advantage but it is not going to be 100% of IAF against 100% of PAF.

no...!
ef2000 or rafale....not j10s.
100 j10s r batter.
further it should be ef2000 or rafale.

it is reported tat both mrca in IAF
and j-10 in PAF will be inducted nearly in the same year around in 2015

i guess you have missed some of the fruitfull debate on this topics at two forums relating the J10!
anyhow just to refresh your knowledge on the issue:
the intial batch of 36 FC20 that PAF have ordered are more of an evaluation purpose squadron. after the first 36 will be operational with PAF, and PAF have judjed its merits and de merits, we may see a second order of upto 70 more planes.
all in all, PAF plans to have about five squadrons of FC20 as an ultimate goal. the other platform that will complement this hogh end fighter is still not talked about, it may be an upgraded JF17, if the project moved along smoothly or it may be something from the west!
at the moment PAF have put there money on F16s but that do not seems to ba a likely case in future!

i hope this will help you a bit!
further nore i will advice you to go through the threads reagrding J19 and PAF investment on the programme, that surely will help you a lot!

regards!

wow...so whose gonna pay for 100 rafaels, would you be transferring the money directly from your own account as monthly direct debit or one time payment.:rofl::rofl:

Hey that's a good point!!!
Why don't we enthusisit start a fund raising for PAF! where we can choose what PAF should have. :azn:
I hope PAF personals would not mind, if we choose F-35 :smokin:

hmm, they wont mind at all! i mean it is a great point sir,
but
i guess there is one little point getting wrong, which is:
by the time we will have generated enough money for our first F35, we probably will have to contact some meusem to get the bird as it will be more of a history chapter with world flying some thenth generation fighters!
perhaps my grandson be able to get hands on to that buy!!

;)
regards!

that's a good deal to counter MRCA

So far, J-10A and J-10B have not been tested in actual combat. That is the key issue, but also a potential loophole.
