I maintain that Pakistani "democracy" doesn't exist: "Pakistani democracy" is really a competition between oligarchies for power, as the barriers to free entry, election, freedom of debate, and power are too high for new blood with new ideas to surmount. All the Constitutions in the world aren't going to save a people from themselves if they are not willing to match bloody bigotry with the willingness to defend their own freedoms.

Impressive. Not many Pakistanis admit to this - the psychological condition Osama bin Laden referred to as, "people see a strong horse and a weak horse, they will naturally want to side with the strong horse."

However things are changing fast. I am hopeful about Pakistan just like any Israeli is with Israel.

Maybe. Pakistan is becoming strong enough to defeat its own terrorists so why should it bow in the face of terrorist threats from others? That's the question that strikes fear into the hearts of the Israel-haters and Pakistan's Islamists alike: for a country strong enough to defeat terrorists may also choose to endorse freedom of speech, thought, and religion.

why we use the democratic system in picking the govt officials only,. why not expand it to all other jobs of the country also,. why limit it to the jobs of PM and CM etc only.. ????

why we don't ask the 99% of pakistanis when making decisions about army chief, governor state bank, etc...

why do we have an HR dept, whose job is to make the best pick,. why dont we just ask for vote from normal poople who to b hired ,.
why we dont use democratic system in picking all other institutions of the country but govt ....

i mean if we can just let democratic system in all other institutions,. then we'll have the ideal candidates, any person with a stronger Baradari would b able to get selected as Army Chief,. he can b Chief Justice,. he can b governor of state bank..

would b a gr8 country, where 1 baradary (jutt) might b ruling the army and whole army would b full of jutts only, where as the other justice system of pak may b filled by Gujjar bhais,.. our Navy might b full of choudhry's,..

The strongest baradary will rule the strongest institute.. wuld b a great scene...

MY say is that,.. either adopt democracy in all institutions including the PM, CM etc..
OR don't apply it in any institue including the top govt officials...

when a patient is dying, why we trust doctor's decision(most informed person in this field), why dont we just all relatives come together and decide on more votes instead of letting that 1 doctor make the decision ... why the decision of other 50 persons that r his relative are not asked for their opinion and then why the decision is made by the doctor only while he is the minority among all other peoples included....

BTW, this is how leaders were choosen in Khalafat.. A majlis-shura, a group of people who has better understanding of politics, used to make decision,..

So khilafat actually goes for the Most Informed decicion, instead of going for Majority's decision.

And after selection of leader, a more presidential form of govt was applied instead of parliamentry system. we just dont believe in our(khilafat) systems, and are actually blind for the current system.
