LAHORE: The former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff and director general of the Inter Services Intelligence General Ehsan has said that we must start behaving like a nuclear state in order to cope with threats to our national security, and that Pakistan’s nuclear assets are invincible.

He was addressing a seminar, titled “Pakistan’s National Security Issues”, organized by Department of Political Science and Centre for South Asian Studies at Al-Raazi Hall of Undergraduate Study Centre here on Friday, says a press release issued here.

PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the seminar while Department of Political Science chairperson Prof Dr Umbreen Javed, senior faculty members and a large number of students were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Gen Ehsan said that it was the time of fourth generation warfare where our enemies were exploiting our weaknesses to hollow us and creating confusion amongst us through conspiracy theories.

He said that efforts had been made to target our president and prime minister in terrorist attack. He said army generals, Kamra and Mehran airbases and other personalities and installations were being attacked and we were confused whether it was our war.

He said that the media was being used to achieve specific targets and objective, adding that Pakistan had serious security reservations on increasing involvement of India in Afghanistan. Despite trade agreements and process of normalization of relations, India had not given any practical proof of betterment of relationship with Pakistan, he added.

He said that India’s approach was indirect assault on our western border and on our national security. He said that we should aware the world of India’s double-standard. He said that India was sponsoring terrorism, ethnic and sectarian violence in Pakistan and could not clear these allegations.

He said political instability was resulting in bad governance, lack of social rights and economic erosion in Balochistan. He said that provincial disharmony, corruption and lack of political stability were becoming threats to national security, calling for the need to adopt whole nation approach to counter external threats.

The fault for "bad governance, lack of social rights and economic erosion" and "provincial disharmony, corruption and lack of political stability" is fairly and squarely Pakistan's own, 100%, nobody else's.

Could someone ask this Gent how do Nuclear States behave ?

Does he notice any similarity between the internal conditions, financial stability and other determinants of his country & other Nuke states ?

These ppl have made Pak look like the Nouveau Rich who while wanting to keep up with the Jonases end up spending using their credit cards and spend the rest of their lives trying to pay their emi's .

With little or nothing left to run their daily lives.

But then, never mind what goes on inside the house so long as they have flashy cars to flaunt.

P.S. Unless he wants to emulate N Korea

.......

Please note that there is a great difference between a nuclear power, and a state with nuclear weapons. All nuclear powers have nuclear weapons, but not all states with such weapons are nuclear powers.

I love it:

hollow us and creating confusion amongst us through conspiracy theories.

Conspiracy theories about conspiracy theories!

And how would/should Pakistan go about acting like a nuclear power? Firing off a few nukes every now and then to show how powerful it was??

And nut jobs like this is create a get-out clause for the Pakistani estaqblishment and the Pakistani people- instead of addressing the serious internal issues that are creating the messes everyone can blame an external player India,US,Isreal or whomever. Unless one owns up to the serious domestic issues that are creating this crisis nothing will ever change.

We do not ask the Afgans to allow us to have a military base in their soil, neither do we fight Pakistan on behalf of Afgan, then how come helping a nation build itself from ruins is a double standard.
The double standard that i see from this man is, he does not want Afgan to develop and be a stable nation, it seems he wants a companion to Pakistan is the number of bomb blast that happens and so he does not want a developing Afgan.
This I think the Afgans are aware of and that is the reason they have the intervension of PAKISTAN in their internal affires

Just how does a security threat from Afghanistan cause bad governance, lack of social rights, economic erosion, provincial disharmony, corruption or lack of political stability within Pakistan?

Is there any special behavior exist for Nuclear Nation....like one explosion evry day is must or nuke at least one country evry month...??

there is no need of Nukes for strong diplomatic ties. If policy is wrong nothing matters...In this age Nukes really doesn't matter many countries have Nukes and who doesn't have their own they have special bonding with strong Nuke states. Any nation can not threat other nation using Nukes.

It all exist in "how your country showing itself in global stage".
