We are leaving the Pakistanis with an enormous mess | US Professor Dr Michael Scheuer

It already happened to us back in 80-90's, but we never learned? History is gonna repeat itself again.

@Aeronaut @Irfan Baloch @Developereo @Jaanbaz @TOPGUN
Both Soviet Union and America didnt come to Afghanistan on our Invitation
there is nothing much we have now or back then to prevent them from doing so.

we are as much in control to do something differently as we are right now trying to placate with our "brothers" to slow down on beheading our citizens.

A usual half arsed line used by the "Democracy" is that the dictators sold us out but someone pray tell that why now such "grave errors" cant be undone? why continue to pursue the same policy and go as far as give blanket visas to unknown numbers of American black ops during PPP time?

in reference to our foreign policy, dealing with brothers, friends and foes, educating our population, formulating a security plan, and stopping the radicalization (read wahabification of Pakistani Sunni Muslims) there are multiple failures at different levels through out that time from 80s to date.

regarding invasions of Afghanistan there was not much we could do but loss minimization and less exposure just like Iran did. Afghanistan is our neighbor and this godforsaken country has been a battle group of the world power and we are the unfortunate neighbor with porous border so we will continue to suffer.

just imagine that what kind of political leadership we elected that gives the "approval" to the army if and when its is attacked by the Taliban. which brings us to 2 points

Army has to wait until its soldiers are beheaded once again
Army cant react if the civilians are attacked
taliban can continue to attack and kill during the "peace talks" and they might deny one or two of their many attacks and thats is good enough proof for our leaders to accept their statement and join the taliban in collectively blaming "hidden forces" sabotaging the peace initiatives (a usual line used for ISI and Pak military)

Democracy the best revenge is our best lesson as Pakistanis until Taliban convert our Constitution avenue into slaughter square.

I was not referring to the world's problems. Throwing a few billion Pakistan's way always works. :D

All kidding aside but this infusion of dollars does little to help Pakistan. This money is often siphoned off by the Corrupt Politicians and transferred to offshore bank accounts.

We need to have Economic Solutions that are organically developed and are self sustaining long term Solutions.

Much of the money does indeed get spent correctly and thus is very useful in keeping Pakistan afloat. This hearsay claim of money being siphoned off (other than some minor skimming) simply cannot be taken as correct without any proof.

It amounts to the same thing.

Most self-respecting countries pay their bills by raising money through taxes or securities.

When country X wants to build a highway or buy fighter jets, they use their own money. Pakistan, by contrast, goes hat-in-hand to the highest bidder (sometimes sending Pakistani military to do mercenary work), and uses that money for business.

Meanwhile, the elite (and not-so-elite) tax cheats keep stuffing their bank accounts, real estate prices in Karachi keep climbing, and luxury car dealerships continue their thriving business. Then these same people wring their hands about how Pakistan has become a country for sale.

That is not a bad system, if one can make it work like Pakistan has. Making others pay for your own needs is smart in a certain devious way. For example, let others help with the famine in Thar while the defense budget is raised by another 15%. Brilliant! :D
