Chinese state was aware of the fact that something was wrong in Wuhan back in the November 2019. Chinese state attempted cover-up of this disease until the situation grew out of control in Wuhan. By the time movements to- and from- Wuhan were curtailed, the virus COVID-19 had breached numerous boundaries worldwide. This was issue # 1.
Then one fine day, Chinese FM issued a controversial tweet pinning the blame on USA and politicizing this tragedy. This was issue # 2.
Now the cat is out of the bag; expect Americans to respond in kind. And this will go far beyond tweets.
Moral of the story is not to politicize a calamity but WE live in a world where morals no longer carry much weight.
In fact, many Chinese citizens are upset with how Chinese state handled this crisis early on. Even now critics of Chinese state disappear without notice
I am sorry but Chinese state is not a Farishta and WE must learn to call a spade a spade. Everything is not hindjewzion sazish. There are bigger forces at play in this world (i.e. divine); bats are chief carriers of coronavirus Family of viruses.
Of course Chinese is not perfect. Like any other nation, it has many flaws and those should be criticized in an unbiased manner. Swallowing the Western narrative hook, line and sinker isn't wise either.
1.) The LOCAL govt of Wuhan was aware that there may be a new virus causing pneumonia in patients in the locality; in today's world where markets crash and panic ensues at any such suggestion, they hoped that they could contain it or it was just an anomaly. They were wrong --- and they were sacked by the govt, with various proceedings initiated against them.
2.) The source of the virus still has NOT been established. The bat theory is just that --- a theory. They haven't found the source. The Chinese have accused the US of bringing it over during the Wuhan games toward the end of 2019. Retrospectively, it seems that the first cases in China emerged approx two weeks after the conclusion of the games, which fits neatly with the virus's incubation period. My point is: it may well have come from a wildlife market in Wuhan
3.) Diseases have come about in meat that is considered "halal" --- from Mad Cow disease and Foot & Mouth disease to many others that had non-Chinese origins.
4.) What excuses does the US have for not banning or screening travelers once it was clear that this was an outbreak caused by a novel virus? The US allowed thousands of people into its borders even AFTER the "cover up" was blown wide open.
The fact is that the US is suffering as it because of its own inexplicably ineffective preparations once the nature of the virus was public knowledge.
To be clear, I'm not directly disagreeing with your overall argument --- but I'm adding nuance to it
Peace.
