Watch this Congressional hearing | Saudi Arabia is going to be cooked by US now | Zaid Hamid

. .
Well maybe the Saudi monarchy is more caught in a "give them their bread and circuses" scenario to keep certain high religious leaders happy so they wont challenge the Saudi family legitimacy.

I don't think from the start they thought opening Madrassas around the world was going to lead to bloodshed.
If anything their cause was rather noble. Use their wealth to educate people and make sure they "got religion".

@Nihonjin1051 , the bottom line is the US has to choose between evils. I think if the US withdraws its support to the Saudis, the Royal Family will fall and who will "inherit" the Arabian Peninsula? Do we have better choices aside from the one we have right now? I agree with @Hamartia Antidote 's assesment
"give them their bread and circuses"
You see if the Saudi Royals stop making these people "happy"... well you know what will happen.

For me, the world has to say enough is enough. You want Wahhabism? Keep it to yourself!!! Islam is suppose to be tolerant and a religion of peace.

The simple and direct issue is the legitimacy of the Saudi ruling family; considering that the were foisted on a made-up kingdom by USA and Great Britain for the most part. Incidentally Imperial Britain did not go with this idea but was more intent on propping up the Hashemite ruling family of Trans-Jordan (today's Jordan) but T.E.Lawrence the maverick English mercenary turned that British policy on its head. Of course it is another thing that today's KSA has disowned its 'godfather' Lawrence of Arabia. But is still implicitly connected to its 'mid-wife' at birth USA. So you can guess that the perpetrators of 9/11 and the foot-soldiers of ISIL have an umbilical to America that goes back a long way.

And meanwhile; life goes on........

To understand all this; read up on T.E.Lawrence.

Of course the US has to make choices, the unfortunate coincidences are the wrong choices that it has made; through history. Another unfortunate non-coincidence is that many of those US choices (or mis-choices) were manipulated by big American Corporate businesses most of the time. The creation of Saudi Arabia; mid-wifed by USA was one such. So research on the origins of ARAMCO; then work backwards to how Ibn Saud was propped up from being a Tribal Leader to King. After that read up on Standard Oil Co. and some bloke called John Rockefeller and some of his contemporaries; that will help you to connect the dots. :)

The hard reality is that American "Big Business" has been the tail that has consistently wagged the American Foreign Policy Dog!

This is for you too, @Nihonjin1051
