I like Indonesia. However, you are more developed in Vietnam? In GDP per capita, ypu are higher. But in all other indicators, you are behind. Development is not only about how city and infrastructure look. Our education, health care etc are the best in SEA just behind Singapore.

Our scientist, in some areas, were and are the world leaders. When we want to compete, we compete with the like of Korea, Germany or the US.

First, Indonesia and other South East Asian people have to remove your inferiority complex before comparing youself with Vietnamese. We do not have that inferirity complex. We are now poor, but we believe we are as capable as German or Korean.

Indonesia gdp is the benchmark to take. I recalled the indo posters laughed I predicted some time ago we would overtake them in export volumes. Now our export volume is approaching twice as much as of Indonesia.

I think we will overtake them in power generation next year, in GDP in 5 years.

Comparing between countries is ok nothing wrong. Maybe you can’t remember but Indo posters bragged in the past of being natural ASEAN leader with high population high GDP and some other sorts of to belittle Vietnam .

Communist CN was just so stupid when begging help from loser JP- US after US defeated in VN war in 1975 and didnt wanna stay in South east Asia anymore and accept losing all power there ( US refused to help Thai fought against VN in 1979).

People may laugh but overtaking Indonesia is not a challenge. It is just a short to medium goal. For Vietnam, we should aim to catch up with S. Korea and Japan. In terms of prosperity we should aim to take on Singapore.

Only 2 things could stop Vietnam: corruption and war.
