No matter how much the Indians deny it and obfuscate the reality the Hizb ul mujahideen and the lashkar e toiba are minor militant groups in the scheme of things and are not as violent as they are promoted as. Except the Mumbai incident (which is believed to have major discrepencies like Karkare being killed-a man who was investigating hindutva links to samjhauta to the noted observance of victims that the culprits spoke marathi) there is not a single incident where LeT has butchered civilians en masse.
They do not and never have participated in merciless killing of civilians and ordinary hindus. They are motivated by deep grievances rather than a fanaticism and an Islamist agenda. These are not your average mullahs. These are local boys with grievances. Just like Burhan Wani's brother was killed and he was beaten with his friends.
You have to note again even Burhan Wani's family was progressive, not regressive. His father was a high school teacher when groups like the Taliban have attacked Malala and Boko Haram banned womens education, and ISIS kidnapped Yazidi girls. There is a clear, notable difference between LeT which India calls terrorist and the major terrorist organizations in the world.
There are two things to note in this video:
-These are young boys in the video. If you note young boys-teenagers and 20 year olds barely know about politics or are ideologically motivated. They are all there because of the damage Indian police/army has inflicted upon their way of life. Again-they are not politically active.
-They all are wearing pant shirt. Now this is in defiance of Taliban edicts where the militants severely prevent their fighters from wearing what is western dress and believe in killing of innocents for wearing such dress.
The real threat to us is from the Taliban, Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, Al Qaeda and ISIS, Jamat Ul Ahrar, Nusra, not HuM, LeT, Hezbollah and Hamas. They actually only attack soldiers, have a code which they generally do not break and are not against progress. The world must identify which faction which militant belongs to.
I believe LeT, HuM, and Jaish E Muhammed can be brought back into the mainstream and Pakistani government should not treat them as terrorist groups. There is a noted difference in their behavior and ways. Even if on western insistence we do we should note that there is a matter of priorities. Taliban (TTP) are a much more major threat to us than any other group. We should hunt down their operatives and avoid making enemies with the afforementioned groups.
The taliban cannot be brought to the mainstream. You can't even talk to the Taliban. If American/Indian arrogance ends even these minor militant groups like LeT will lose their ideological core which is oppression against muslims, from Kashmir to America's occupation forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
