Watch banned film "India's daughter" here!

Ban has only made it popular.how many would have watched it then how many will now ?and its not fun to be alongside North Korea and Pakistan.

. .
Watch the documentary. I can't believe the stupidity of the government. It will move you & there is absolutely nothing there that can be said as tarnishing India's image. This is a sensitively handled, absolutely gut wrenching piece.
Watch. I would urge everyone here to watch this. The government's reaction is absolutely foolish..
After I read your post on this thread I decided to watch the documentary and I did.
I found the defence lawyers statements in bad taste. Mr. Mukul sharma in one of the statement went on to say "this (a girl going out with a boy) doesn't happen in our society, this doesnt happen in our country". And statements such as those made by AP singh that "I would burn my own daughter if she indulges in pre-marital activities" would hurt our country's image. (Reminds me honour killings!!)
These men were pointing finger at the victim's character* and also supporting the convicted by saying that such rapes and more heinous crimes happen often in our country and this is not an one-off incident. Their statements would definitely tarnish our country's image, which is already branded the rape capital of the world.
*Jyoti Singh's parents were well aware that she had gone out to watch a movie with a boy.

Towards the fag end of the documentary i was left wondering if Mukesh was really innocent?? and that with him (his hanging) would we also be killing his family??? His wife's statements and the statements of the other family members do show a gamut of human emotions. This documentary does evoke some sort of sympathy for the rapists.

I am not sure if banning the documentary was right or wrong but including Mukesh's interview was definitely not apropos.

. .
Yea right, as if India is in any position to dictate to BBC if they can show the film or not.

Welcome to PDF, where you have more freedom than in India.
Cmon, don't get me started. Can I post the Satinic verses here?

. .
No, but they will make a movie on Aghoris, Kashmir, Caste and Toilets
Here is something from the documentary, specifically when one of the rapists talks about act, dont understand the reason for the imagery:

The whole video itself came across as something that was meant to sensationlize, and perhaps be used to collect more funds, after people in the UK wanted to stop sending money for "empowerment" work.

Govt is being idiotic about it,nowhere India comes out better in this.

The objective is to trash India. Destroy our self esteem and to destory our image in the world over.

Its not as if UK does not have a rape problem. Do you see the BBC bashing up their citizens by showcasing carefully edited clippings of fools and criminals ?

BBC is just feeding into our need for self humiliation and angst. self flagellation is the favourite pastime of Indians.

Its one of those gifts Gandhi gave us and the British has been happily helping us along that path to defeatism.

That is how propaganda works :coffee:

Talk about murder and rape and then show images of Hindu gods.

Then the multitude of "secular" Hindus and Indians will cheer the "objectivity" of BBC and thank them for "opening our eyes". They will then shed tears in gratitude and will make a notch in their memory about British Fair play and Nobility.

I think that image was shown when the guy was talking about her intestines coming out. ............. seriously I don't know why the Indian got. Banned it :coffee:

The great intellectuals of PDF is so much smarter.

That was Akshay Thakur's wife & child. Not Mukesh kumar's. The old parent's are his. No point in acting as if all those in jails don't have a family. I felt no sympathy for any of these chaps. The only ones who got my sympathy were the parents of the girl.

The defence lawyers are absolute scumbags.

Again, the ban was not about the subject matter but about that interview with the rapist and permissions relating to it. No one in an official position has said this story is not worth telling or that the introspection it causes it not needed.

There was no reason for the ban. I was prone to thinking that the mentality displayed by the rapists maybe that of certain poor and backward louts who were not exposed to education or how a majority of modern day civilized humanity thinks and the values of the majority of decent people. That was until I heard the comments of the lawyers. They seem to display the same mentality as their clients. And Indians on this forum mock Pakistani lawyers who garlanded the killers of that Minister who was killed for criticizing the blasphemy laws.
