ANOTHER PERSON IN Washington's King County has died from the coronavirus, bringing the U.S. death toll to 12.
County health officials said the victim was a woman in her 90s.
"This is a critical moment in the growing outbreak of COVID-19 in King County," county officials said in a statement.
The Washington State Department of Health is reporting at least 70 cases of the virus across the state. Most of the cases are in King County and are linked to an outbreak at a nursing home.
County health officials urged workplaces to allow people who can work from home to do so. Amazon and Facebook this week already instructed their Seattle-based employees to not go into their offices.
If feasible, people should consider postponing events and large gatherings to try to avoid bringing large groups of people together, officials suggest.
