Thanks for sharing @jhungary
no problem
Sir how would you characterize the combat ability of the taliban ie their sniping skills ,fieldcraft, their ability to set up ambushes and how would you compare them to the sunni iraqi fighters.
Did not see much action in Afghanistan I am afraid. But in general, their Sniping skill is on marksmen level, some group are even better than ANA and I always insist That some insurgent, mostly non-Taliban (usually with relationship to foreign group) have certain degree of Military training. Again depend on organisation to organisation.
I know you guys are not gonna like this, but I found that some AQ and Taliban member have field craft that can only be learn from ISI in Pakistan. Especially the tailing and anti-surveillance skill, as they have all sort of CIA signature and CIA help ISI on those skill during the 70s.
Compare them to Iraqi Insurgent, Sunni Militia and AQI, both Sunni Militia and AQI is a bit more class than the Taliban and AQ. They have a different training regime and they fight more conventional way. Where as the AQ and Taliban are heavily adopted to Asymmetric warfare. As far as I concern, those are the reason why ISIS (An left Over from AQI) can be that successful during the June campaign last year. You won't gain that much ground if you use Taliban style infiltration.
Can't you see, I am busy with ma pop corns
nope, I am watching an doco on Uzbin Valley ambush...hehe
