Waqar reveals Pakistan’s cricket problems

Pakistan has many cricket players to raise the standard of the current team but they aren't being selected, I have seen about 2 -3 players in the number 1,2,3 spot.
The problem is that we here in Pakistan cannot explain to just what the hell we do sometimes ,Like the team selection.
Harfeez for example play in last 3 ICC games against India.
2011 - Hafeez played the worst shot of the century,leading to collapse of the team ,Then we ended up losing the game by some 20 odd runs.
2013 -Again Lose
2017- Selected then Lose again.

If we analyses the tecniches of these players all of them are brought up on dead Pakistani pitches where after few overs ,Deviation is just dead swung plus the ball does not hurry onto the bat due to the nature of the soil compared to NZ AU or ENG.
Hence we saw azhar ali ,Trying to work the ball on the leg side then 2 overs later got beat by the ball because his front foot does not reach the side of the ball Instead of playing closer to the body they play away.

Somebody needs to tell these players like our coach said yesterday ,"THE BASICS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE".
Our openers do not know which seam represents outswingers and get out like idiots to the balls every opener should be good enough to play.
Furthermore I have played club cricket abit from RCSC ,Our cricketing system needs a complete overhaul.
Lastly we should have a sports psychologist to tell younger players like babar azam to keep it down and be original ,Its like our players start pissing themselves due to the pressure.
All the Greats of the game like saurav ganguly are giving us valuable advice ,We should just follow their advice.

The problem is in format we trying three captains in three different formats and its not helping. The youngsters coming up by Parchi or performance picking up by one day or T20 domestic cricket hence we weak in both those and strong in test format. Coz we still adopting 80's 90's style to chase or give a chase.
Azhar, Shezhzad, Babar, Shoeb etc need time to stay on wicket to play defensively to built up confidence and play lot of dot balls Which give another type of pressure on coming one to rolled up. Sometimes we need to play aggressively from start to built pressure on bowlers. Two three 4s or sixer to a bowler make him to do mistakes and lose control.
As other teams doing with Wahab, Hassan and Imad.

PSL will finish whatever is left of Cricket in Pakistan- I think already many performing players have been caught taking money from match fixers-

NO ONE in Pakistan gives a damn about cricket anymore. They havn't for about 10 years. I have said many times in previous posts that cricket has been dying a slow death in Pakistan, since about 2008. No one hardly plays it there aswell. Pakistan is on a fast track to become like the West Indies and other minnows if we are already are not there. In some ways it's good as it will give football an opportunity to flourish in Pakistan. I personally hate cricket so good riddance of it from Pakistan.

I also observed more youth is attracted towards football now!!!

There is nothing to reveal Pakistani team has no talent. Tell me where are bowlers with 90+ and avg below 23? Where are batsman averaging 40+ and in the same time having 90+ strike rate? Where are spinners with below 27 avg and below 4 economy rate? Name me hitters who can make 100+ runs in last 10 overs? Admit it there is nothing wrong with board or anything else its just that there is no talent.

I agree. The statement that Pakistan has a lot of talent is nothing but a cliche resulting from our habit of massaging our egos all the time.

Pakistanis have a habit of finding some scapegoat to blame. These days, it is Najam Sethi and PCB. The harsh reality is that there is nothing that PCB can do.

u put Najam sethi incharge of Indian Cricket team and they wud b having lack of talent.. this is the best way to destroy an institution, make a pathetic incompetent person incharge of it and that institution will collapse..

Sherjil is the ideal Opener , Pakistan should reinstate once the issues get resolved

• We presently do not have 8 Bowlers in 18-24 age , group who are of equal quality we just keep depending on 1 bowler Amir for Miracles and the shine is off him

Pakistanis generally have a habit of finding miracles and short cuts to success rather than the longer and harder scientific route. The same goes for cricket.

It was possible till the 90s to produce world-class cricketers from "gali mohallah" cricket but the world has moved on from that unlike Pakistan.

Ideally from a Bowling Heavy prespective based on Traditional 90's approach Pakistani Team should select as follow

This was a typical 90's formula heavy on attacking bowlers aiming to bowl out other team under 180-250 in this approach there was no part time bowler

Umar Akmal (Opener) <SPECIALIST> Classic stroke players
Azhar Ali (1 Down) <TEST LEVEL SPECIALIST> Player who can get to 100 runs
Babar Azam (Middle Order) <TEST LEVEL SPECIALIST> Player who can get to 100 runs
Sarfaraz (Middle Order) <Gives you decent score> (Needs to become a 50-70 runs player)

The old 90's Pakistani Team was built around the principle , of selecting best attackin bowlers. I think I would prefer to watch Yasir Shah / Saeed Ajmal together , instead of seeing part time T20 spinners. This pairing would equal the Wasim / Waqar pairing based on the quality these guys have

Pakistan in 90's use to have Wasim Akram in All Rounder section where he could give you a odd 20-30 run chemeo with bat but was never expected to be Afridi and that has normally worked with Pakistan in past

• Perhaps we just need to go back to our Roots, go with a SUPER STRONG BOWLING ATTACKING, Pakistan have to forget the Afridi era of 100 runs in last 10 overs becasue we have not produced a player like that locally who can get to 100 runs in last 10 overs in quite some time.

Better to see Yasir Shah & Saeed Ajmal , doing their magic together , with support of 4 Young quick Fast bowlers then to see part timers , Shoaib Malik / Shadab or Imad in ODI format , I am sure in T20 they can trick ppl into getting their wickets but in ODI opponets can just smash you around as there is less rush to score


Current issue is , when our Part Timer players don't perform , we really get hammered

I mean if you have Yasir Shah & Saeed Ajmal why would you want part timers ?

FIX THE BOWLING SQUAD FIRST SO THE GAMES ARE WATCHABLE FIRST !!!

Then we will worry about the Team's 5 batsmen, lets fix the bowling first !!!!


This is like you have Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram and you have given them timeout and you want your batsmen to be your spinners

DON'T EXPECT PAKISTANI TEAM TO SCORE 100 RUNS IN 10 OVERS anymore that time period is over it was a freak of nature event in Pakistani cricket

The most we can expect from them is 180-250 runs that was our normal capacity


T20 GUY CAN NOT TRANSITION TO ODI or TEST

But Test guy can play ODI
