I shall be visiting Pakistan soon. I wish to open an NGO and supply funds/work for the schools.

My goal is to

1) Renovate the schools, that is getting a roof in place or chairs/tables. No holidays on cold/rainy or super hot days.
2) Provide healthy foods to kids who attend school, which will create incentive for poor people to send kids to school.

My father used to work for multinational NGOs and has experience working in Afghanistan and Pakistan. During my childhood, I often used to visit the same NGOs. So I'll be meeting some NGOs there as well, for valuable experience. The reason I want to do KPK and school is because, I'm from KPK and I hold education extremely close to myself. I think education is what is lacking in the society of Pakistan.

So I ask fellow members to come share experience, knowledge or information. There is scarcity about NGOs information on google when it comes to Pakistan. I'm taking quite a huge step here and I wish the funding and work to be done properly. Of course my goal is to raise funds through friends/family and thus, I wish to execute it nearly exceptional.

@WebMaster (I assume you may be familiar with the matter)

Please mention other KP members. My projects initial goal will be to help the surrounding Peshawar regions, but focus will also be upper regions, by which I mean locations further than Mansehra, doudhial etc. By having inputs from members living near these cities, it'd be very helpful.

Didnt @Leader and @Jazzbot not post a link where you give money and some charity adopts a school or something? Why not channel resources in something that is already working and push it further?
In which case there should only be few hundreds of NGOs working instead of hundreds of thousands. Some people want to have their own NGOs. I cannot think of any NGO doing food drives and I also don't trust big NGOs. Smaller ones work more efficiently.
Plus the links they gave, those are under KP gov't. NGO means non-gov't organization.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department is planning to launch a campaign for seeking support of the expatriate Pakistanis and well-off people in the country to adopt government schools and fund provision of missing facilities there, according to official sources.

They said that the individuals and donors would be requested through a proper campaign inside and outside the country for adoption of the schools where the government could not provide the needed facilities in its limited resources, said the sources in the education department. For this purpose, the Elementary Education Foundation (EEF), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has specifically devised ‘adopt a school’ programme.

Initially, four components of the missing facilities have been selected to be ensured in the schools, which include construction of additional classrooms, boundary walls and washrooms; provision of drinking water; establishment of computer labs; and provision of computer teachers.

Of the total 28,472 government schools in the province, 10,340 are without electricity, 7,554 have no drinking water facility, 4,904 lacks boundary wall and 3,941 schools are without washrooms, according to the education department data.

The sources said that the programme would be launched as a pilot project in five districts, including Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Nowshera and Dera Ismail Khan.

Later, it would be extended to other districts. The officials said that 50 schools lacking the required facilities had been selected in each of the five districts.

The officials said that ‘adopt a school’ programme would be launched by end of March during a ceremony where Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan would be chief guest.

The EEF would hire an information technology firm for developing a web page, and videos and pictures of the schools lacking facilities would be uploaded on it for information of the donors and individuals who could provide support to the respective schools.

The officials said that the estimated cost of each missing facility would be displayed on the website. Answering a question, one of the official said that an individual or a donor agency could provide support for even a single facility like construction of washrooms in a school.

They said that every school would have an identity code on the website and by clicking it the entire data of the respective school could be seen.

They said that a separate bank account would also be opened for transfer of the donated money, which would be spent through the parent-teacher council (PTC) of the respective school. The fund would be directly transferred from the bank to the PTC account.

The officials said that on completion of construction work such that of additional classrooms, the pictures and videos would be shared with the adopters through the website to ensure transparency. Besides, engineers would be hired for monitoring of construction work, while the donors would be issued a certificate for adopting a particular work.

Can you please get rid of all the pages from my thread?

NGO means non-government oraganization. KP build a school falls under gov't. Even then, I have my own goals. So please remove these posts.

How about you work with existing NGOs? It will make your life much easier as you won't need government trouble/licenses etc. You can channel funds and efforts through the, or ask them to take a new project and hand it to you, depending on the resources you bring.

I believe there are tons of NGOs working, but it is extremely difficult to make them work together. It would benefit us all if we had few, but large NGOs

I think it's more trouble working with existing NGOs. I'll be more satisfied if I do it myself and also how fast I can push what I wish to implement. There is no middle man or sorry we can't do that.

Also smaller NGOs work more efficient. So people would wish for smaller NGOs. Just like why there is need for local elections.
