The interrogation of three Chinese men detained near Murgo sector in Jammu and Kashmir a fortnight back has been stuck for want of a Yarkendi translator.

Officials said the men, who reportedly belong to the Uyghur community, speak the Yarkendi dialect. Yarkand is a county in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

An Army convoy had spotted the men, said to be in their early twenties, on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control and detained them on June 12. Although officials have not been able to establish their motive, preliminary questioning revealed they were headed to Pakistan.

The men have managed to communicate that since they did not have valid passports, they sneaked in with the help of an agent. A private translator asked security agencies to bring the men to Srinagar where he could speak to them, sources said.

"Our men can speak basic Chinese but these men are speaking in Yarkendi," said a source, adding that either a translator has to be taken to Murgo or the men brought to Leh.

"We recovered a few political maps from them. They also had some currency notes and their bags were stacked with dry ration," said the source. "We have hit a wall. Even the documents they have on them are in Yarkendi. These have to be deciphered for more clarity."

Bullshyt.

All the citizens of PRC are mandated to learn Mandarin at least to speak if not written (not sure).

So these guys are simply pretending not to know.

There are 2 possibilities:

1- they are crossing into Pakistan for training.

2- They're spies sent.

Give them two three kaan ke neeche and they will talk in Hindi as well.

Third degree torture for chinese spies :p

See there are two outcomes of such a session:

1- We will either earn goodwill of China in case these are ETIM rebels going to train.

Or

2- We would have caught some very brazen spies.

If they are Uighur Muslims let them free and help them but if otherwise hang the intruders.

Not a chance, my friend.

Remember we are also suffering from jehad both at civil level and militant level.

This is something not having any set standard. It cannot be tamed or controlled.

If they are ETIM rebels, they should be asked to move back to where they came from as ETIM is not our business.

This form of militancy is not something we want to intrude, especially when we are attached to an instable, nuclear-armed fundamentalist establishment.

While we don't get along with the Chinese as they also sponsor terrorists like Shimray, let us not forget that our fight with jihadist militancy is also on.

We will be doing another EU of hypocrisy if we aid ETIM and then shout about LeT.

While we don't have to fight for the Chinese, at least let's not get our hands burned.

Especially when we have such a strategy-myopic regime in power, which has no decisive ability to defend Indian interests.
