I'm confident that Modi-ji will quickly rectify the situation. A phone call to Obama will reverse the visa restrictions. America cannot function without Indian immigrants and students. Obama should be made aware that 39% of all doctors in America, 38% of NASA engineers, 41% of Google engineers, 36% of Facebook engineers, and 82% of all Apple engineers are Indians. I'm confident that under Modi-ji's brilliant leadership, India will become a superpower by 2020!

Want to enter US? Now just a visa won't suffice
NEW DELHI: US is not just denying entry to Indian students with valid visas but has also deported some Indians travelling to the country on work, business and tourism visas, the government said Wednesday.
In another advisory, it asked all Indians, not just students, to carry valid supporting documents when travelling to the US. The advisory said India had strongly emphasised before the US the need to honour visas issued by its own embassy and consulates.
The government asked all Indian nationals to carry the "necessary supporting documentations regarding place of stay, financial support, medical arrangements, sponsorship details etc''.
"Government of India continues to remain closely engaged with the US Government on this subject. We have strongly emphasised the need for the US authorities to honour the visas issued by their own Embassy/Consulates,'' said the advisory.
The government had earlier taken up with the US the denial of entry to Indian students seeking admission to Silicon Valley University, San Jose and Northwestern Polytechnic University, Fremont. The students were denied entry by immigration officials despite their holding valid visas.
According to MEA, the US has conveyed that the decision to deny entry to these students is not because of the corresponding institutions being "blacklisted" but based on the assessment made by the US immigration authorities of individual applicants. According to the US government, the deported persons had presented information to the border patrol agent which was inconsistent with their visa status.
The universities in question had earlier denied too that they were blacklisted and said that the denial of entry had more to do with tightening of visa regulations by the US after the Paris terror attacks.
The government reiterated that all Indian students seeking admission in US educational institutions should do due diligence to ensure that the institutions to which they are seeking admission have proper authorization and capacities.
Apart from travel documents, the students should also carry all required documentation regarding their study plans, housing, financial support, healthcare arrangements etc. and be prepared for admission (entry to the US) interviews with US immigration officials.
