There are vast areas of America that are among the best places in the world to live.

The crime infested areas are only a small part of some major cities. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. Only people who’ve never been there would think such a thing.

If your willing to work hard enough, you can live the very best life in the US. There are many thousands of suburbs like this in the US.

But everyone on PDF wants to post a couple of drug streets in Philly or homeless tents in LA.

The problem is tv shows like "Friends" makes it look like a large percentage of Americans live in big cities...but that is not the norm anymore. It was true back before WW2 but that was a long long long time ago.

Only 6.9% of the US population lives in the top 20 largest US cities! I bet there's no other country on the planet with this low of a city percentage with a rural population of also under 20%.

76% now live in the suburbs/small towns.

Meanwhile the Chinese here are wondering why 93% of the population isn't eager to throw their tax money on the infrastructure of these bygone city era living.

I find it amazing that when watching videos of someplace 1000 miles away from me it looks exactly like someplace nearby.

@Gomig-21 this is near Nashville but it looks like Medford or Woburn or something..they even have the shutters on the windows!!! Churches, the brick storefronts. Tell me if you can see some obvious tipoff that this isn't nearby. Even the trees look the same. Maybe yellow firehydrants seems odd. Infact at the end it looks like he's driving up Rt 1 to you but no guardrail.

@F-22Raptor If you want to know what the metro area immediately around Boston looks like..well what you posted is pretty much it.

It does. Looks a lot like Waltham in the beginning but RT1 is a mess of malls and stores on each side making it one of the most dangerous highway/roads to travel. Would love to have a talk with the dude that designed that road! lol.

At least it has a guardrail to keep people from crossing over....otherwise a complete deathtrap.

I think it is a camera lens effect. I seen some interior shots where everything, appliances and furniture, looks squatty and the rooms looks huge compare to the house specs.

It depends. In many American neighborhoods, there is an evil organization call 'HomeOwner's Association' (HOA). An HOA can be structured in a way that they control what you can do to your property, particularly the outer appearance. You cannot paint your house a certain color. You cannot build a fence on your front yard. Etc...Etc...The idea is to maintain a certain image and property value. Not all HOA are evil but the few that are not are so rare it is more convenient to categorize the idea of HOA as evil.

I’m in northern Virginia now. I generally wouldn’t want to live in major cities unless the local government is sane regardless of their politics. I don’t like liberals nor their politics.

I’d prefer moderate Rs than any types of Ds. The Ds look mentally sick to me. They know how to play the game but I have more in common with the Rs - faith, God, and Country

They’re evil but I’m glad they get to enforced rules or else you’d have trash moving in and throwing loud parties, parking their cars on lawns, and their men walking around shirtless. My parents neighborhoods has shifted from majority white to black over the past 22 years it seems. You see really undesirable behavior from them as I mentioned above. Trash on the ground, rift rafts everywhere. Driving really fast down the street generally uneducated lower income level type behavior. They have no respect for other people and are unbelievably entitled.
