Iranian nuclear energy program needs to be supervised by IAEA, my concern is that these inexperienced nuclear scientist and engineers of Iran will make a critical mistake and the nuclear reactors will malfunction or some other emergency situation will arise and the whole south Asia, central Asia, China, and Middle East will be affected by mass radiation leakage thanks to this ill-experienced desperate for nuclear technology nation Iran, if that happens such an event will be unforgivable. People really need to think about that, we will have a major crisis if that happens. A technologically advance Japan even fumbled when it came to completely shutting down it's nuclear reactors when the tsunami hit Japan and Fukushima began emitting radiation across the globe.

How can you guarantee they will not actually be used and only used for deterrent, we're living in the real world. Answer is No, absolutely no to a nuclear armed Iran but civil nuclear technology for energy purposes for this oil-rich country is fine under IAEA supervision that's all. Iranians may say this is a domestic issue not when you're a signatory of the NPT and currently enriching Uranium without international supervision.

Can't guarantee for the rest of the nations either who already possess nuclear weapons. The nuclear bomb has prevented large-scale war in Pakistan otherwise we all know American troops would be roaming around the city of Karachi many years ago.

If it will prevent war in our neighbouring country as well... I would be more than happy to see others war not spilling over my country once again (similar to the case of Afghanistan).

My own opinion Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon would balance out Israel and secure Iran from a foreign invasion, however my opinion is irrelevant. Iran getting nuclear weapons would impact the GCC then Israel, the USA would lose influence over the GCC and as mentioned other ME countries would try to acquire their own atomic arsenals however a major problem with that is none of them with the exception of Israel have the technological capability.

Israel had nuclear weapons during the 1973 war and was ready to use it on Cairo and Damascus.

Yes, I support Iran getting nuclear weapons. (Even though there is no evidence that they are doing that).

Look at the current nuclear weapons states. America, Russia, China, Britain, France (the five NPT-recognized nuclear weapon states). As well as Pakistan, India, North Korea and Israel.

Can anyone honestly say that Iran is less responsible than these countries? I don't think so. In fact Iran has not invaded any other country in the past few centuries.

In comparison, in the past decade alone we have had the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Lebanon, Georgia and Gaza.

Chinese Dragon thinks everyone should have nuclear weapons even Papua New Guinea. Maybe Japan should have nuclear weapons, South Korea, Vietnam should also have nuclear weapons. It helps to prevent invasion good idea.

Unforgivable? Nuclear disaster has happened a few times already buddy. The famous Chernobyl is one of them and the recent Fukushima which was caused by natural phenomenon but you probably don't know it also happened in the US see Three Mile Island accident - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Don't tell me the Americans weren't advanced enough yet this disaster did happen. Iran doesn't want to be the next Iraq and therefor they should protect themselves as you never know what the crazy Americans will think of next.

First of all we have no problem w/ each other really (Iran and Pak). Second of all what leverage does Pakistan have over anyone exactly? The only country you guys have a leverage on is AFG and that's because of the taliban issue. Once the Afghans, with the help of the West+Iran+India+China, solve the taliban issue than even that leverage will be gone.

This is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy. Only a minority of Iranians are in favour of nukes, even a smaller percentage of the leadership is in favour, and yet idiots around the world keep talking about Iranian nukes. I guess if we're getting the blame we might as well do the "crime." That's the only reason I'm in favour of Iranian nukes. Other than that I don't see how nukes are useful to any nation. Nukes serve NO purpose. In the end if you don't have a great economy, a modern army/navy/airforce, a developed society etc... nukes are useless to you. Pakistan has nukes but there is secterian war between shias and sunni extremists, taliban is roaming free, americans are sending drones, the India-Pakistani issues aren't solved yet etc... North Korea has nukes and everybody's life is still miserable. SU had enough nukes to destroy the planet 1000 times over and it crashed. They're useless weapons for the most part.

folks u do know general electric built Japanese plants and Iran had the stuxnet and Chernobyl was too suspicious for accident what thing never get america to build it for you. USA also sabotaged Russia pipelines once by setting them up due to Russians spies stealing sensitive data so what CIA did was plant a dodgy code in the package and kgb stole it and bang.

1.iran first needs to learn to protect their scientist who get blown up or could be kidnapped and interrogated for sensitive info.,
2.make a sure they sign agreement with pak they will never be used against us. iran has history of stabbing even working with USA behind the scenes look at iraq an extension of iran. we had problems cos of Iran misbehavior and also snitched us up over nuke technology.They openly do deals with our other arch rival India.

I support Iran going nuclear, but AzadKashmir has raised some valid points.

1. Iran did snitch us out when we helped them with enrichment ect.

2. Iran does deal with the Indians, and for us that is a major deal breaker in terms of trust.

I don't think they want to make nukes, they just wanted to acquire the knowledge of making a bomb and they did.
I believe they will make a win-win deal with US very soon.

Iranian bomb will have multi-dimensional impact.Its not only Israel centric. Its impact will be felt in GCC countries too especially KSA,which will sure then scout one for itself.

On the side note what Iranian bomb will be named if we go by ZAB's logic.....Shia bomb perhaps...................
