Good sensible thing to do. Hope this dangerous disease will be eradicated once for all.

I think provinces & districts that are not hit by terrorism in Pakistan should enforce mandatory polio vaccination of people coming from any other province/district, this way this disease will be limited to only few areas only & it will become more easy task to eradicate it.

So sad pakistan cant get rid of Polio cuz of retards like Taliban holding the control :(

It's not simply because of the Taliban, Taliban have been around since the 1990's so why wasn't Pakistan able to eradicate polio before then? Main problem is reinfection, whenever steps are taken to vaccinate the populous for Polio it is offset by the cross-border travel between people living along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Most of the Polio problem is in KP not Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, GB, nor Azad Kashmir. People in KP and Afghanistan cross over for whatever reasons and Pakistanis come into contact with the Polio virus in Afghanistan (which takes very little steps to tackle their polio problem) then return to Pakistan (KP) and reinfect the population. So cross-border travel has to be regulated better. Taliban is just a minor hurdle and excuse.

If that is the case why don't you do what India has done. Ask every afghan to get vaccinated before they enter Pakistan and vaccinate every Pakistani coming from Afghanistan. Or is it not possible because militants wont allow it to happen?

Two policemen protecting polio team killed in Swabi firing
SWABI: Two policemen were killed in Swabi on Friday when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on them as they were en route to provide security cover to a polio team, DawnNews reported.

According to local police, two police officials were on their way to perform security duties when unknown gunmen opened fire on them on Topi Road in Swabi. Subsequently, one police official was killed whereas the other sustained injuries.

The injured police official was shifted to Swabi Hospital where his condition was reported as critical. Later, he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the attack, security men cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway to apprehend those responsible.

Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world where the polio virus is still endemic, but efforts to stamp out the crippling disease have been hit by repeated attacks on health teams.

Officials blame the violence and suspicions about the vaccine for a surge in cases. According to the World Health Organisation, Pakistan recorded 72 cases of polio this year compared to 58 in 2012.

New Delhi on Wednesday announced it would require citizens from Pakistan and other polio-affected nations travelling to India to take a mandatory polio vaccination at least six weeks prior to their departure.
