Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is all set to deliver a keynote address for the Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF) at The Penn Museum in Philadelphia. Montek Singh Ahluwalia too is going to speak at the event, says the Wharton India website.
But how will he attend an event in the US without a visa? An Indian Express reports says that the the Wharton India website clarified on Thursday that both Modi and Ahluwalia would be speaking live via video-conference.
A group of US powerful lawmakers had earlier, in a public appeal to the Obama administration, had asked it not to change the good policy of denying visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi under any circumstances in view of serious allegations of crime against humanity against him.
Bureaucrat-turned-politician KJ Alphons, who tried to convince US lawmakers to revoke visa restrictions on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, failed to receive any firm commitment the issue.
But then, a video conference should not be a tough job for Modi since he has already wooed his supported through his hi-tech 3D video speeches, ahead of the Gujarat elections.
His 3D stunt, though criticised by the Opposition in Gujarat, was received well by BJP supporters. And one has to admit, that Narendra Modi, unlike most other politicians, is quite the tech savvy person.
