Visa on arrival: India sees 421.6% jump in tourist arrivals in December

Facts? @Star Wars gave you the facts you are going by the media hyped reports.
oh man those botched up operations were in government hospitals even middle class Indians don't go there. Although I can understand and appreciate your concerns.
Lol
I just told you guys what I get to read here in the newspapers. And trust me nobody is going to check veracity of all the news that's published.
And if you were being sarcastic in your last line then my dear I am as much an Indian as you're, so my concerns 're genuine. :)

I don't think you understand. No matter what we do the media reports will not change. Its not based on reality, its based on who controls the perception of the media.
So be it!!!
I told you how India is projected abroad.

This my friend is something we in Pak must learn and do so quickly.

Congrats

Frankly speaking ...the time is not lost yet . Till very recent time world community did not see Pakistan through eyes of India and it was treated just like any other Asian country ..( much to the consternation of Indians ) . But things are changing now ...and Pakistan is getting bad name due to terrorism .

It can be done in Pakistan too .Pakistan has some of the best tourist places in the world .

however security is the most important concern for tourists ...the streaks of rapes did turn away whole lot of tourists from India ...

If only peace could have prevailed in this part of the world ...

yes Sir.

My hope is that so many Indians on this forum will get their frustration out here by posting $tupid posts.

Then most of them will decide to spend a day or two in Lahore and Pindi.

Believe you me, Lahore is the place to be for coffee lovers now.

There are restaurants with owners maddeningly dedicated to the coffee culture.

off course desi food is off the charts too.

I am not sure to what extent it is true. But I hope this govt is able to give a make over to India's image.

'Image building' reminded me, in Kolkata Metro some genius official has decided to stick lots of yellow coloured notices all over the glass panels of the ticket counters in all stations asking the passengers not to rape and the legal consequences of rape. I wonder what that fellow was thinking, I also wonder what a foreigner would be thinking seeing such notices. :hitwall:

India has already issued 65,000 e-visas in the last 75 days and, on an average, 1000 electronic visa authorizations are being issued a day. There was a 421.6% jump in tourist arrivals during December 2014 compared to the previous year. India had issued 2,700 visas in December 2013 whereas the number of ETAs issued during December 2014 was 14,083.

Online visa facility is applicable for visitors traveling to India for recreation, short duration medical treatment and business visit for a stay of 30 days. It is available at nine airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Thiruvanathapuram.

Panwar also spoke about expecting a "windfall bonanza" on budget allocations for the tourism sector as it was categorized as a priority developmental sector for the economy by PM Narendra Modi.

"The tourism ministry has been consistently pitching for higher allocations with the finance ministry to protect, preserve, promote and restore its rich heritage of over 5,000 years of Indian history and indications are suitably impressive and, therefore, the aspirations and expectations of the tourism ministry have already enlivened so that with the higher allocations, the tourism ministry is able to implement the prime minister's vision for developing its tourism and heritage," Panwar said. "The six countries recommended by the ministry to the department of home affairs for issuance of e-visa are China, the UK, Spain, France, Italy and Malaysia," tourism secretary Lalit Panwar said. He was speaking at the India Heritage Tourism Conclave by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday.

Can we just buy Lahore from Pakistan? We Punjabis are very depressed because we don't have Lahore and are resorting to many vices.
