HANOI, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Monday said that a special envoy will visit China aimed at discussing measures to relieve tension between the two countries.

"The visit by the Vietnamese official to China is to discuss with Chinese leaders on measures to cool down the situation and prevent tensions between the two countries from happening again," said Le Hai Binh, spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

Binh made the remark while addressing reporter's inquiry over the purpose of the tour to China by Le Hong Anh.

Le Hong Anh, a Politburo member and standing secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, will visit China from Tuesday to Wednesday as the special envoy of Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.

"The visit, made at the invitation of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, also aims to promote healthy, stable and long-term development of the bilateral relations between the two parties and two countries, which meets aspirations and interests of the two peoples," said Binh.

Le Hong Anh is sent as special envoy of VCP chief. I believe he is a man of pro China faction. Vietnam government confirms the visit.

An interesting aspect before this visit is at the same day Vietnam government issues an official regret about the riot incident, effecting several Chinese casualties and offers compensations.

must come begging for forgiveness. we just need to ignore those viets.
it is not the time for displaying hubris. have you forgotten you contributed a large part to the tension?

Better for Vietnam to have a color revolution and split into two. No need to babysit the VCP.
waiting for that to happen is like waiting for the landing of martians on earth. if you haven´t noticed we don´t have domestic separatism and terrorism movements. neither internal nor external threat (ok, except from China).

Didn't Viet here say China is pushing Vietnam to America? What's with the reconciliation? All tough talk about destroying our rig, kicking Chinese business out of Vietnam.

First start a colour revolution, get rid of the Communist party, become a democracy according to US standard and Uncle Sam might send you more aid.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday said China hopes Vietnam will implement remedial measures for incidents leading to the death of Chinese workers in May.

In mid-May, a series of riots hit foreign companies in southern and central Vietnam, leaving five Chinese nationals dead, around 20 foreign factories burned down, and some 1,100 foreign companies affected.

Spokesman Hong Lei said in a statement that the ministry has noted remarks on the incidents by a Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday.

According to a report by Vietnam News Agency, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh responded to a question on the incidents on Monday.

"We regret that the incident happened to foreign-invested firms, including Chinese businesses and workers, in May 2014. We are also sorry that some Chinese workers lost their lives or were injured during the incident," stated Binh.

Vietnam will roll out humanitarian support for the Chinese workers affected, he said, adding that the Vietnam-China Friendship Association will send a working team to China to visit the families of several victims.

The Vietnamese side has implemented and will continue to carry out support policies and measures to assist the affected firms in overcoming difficulties and resuming normal operations, said the spokesperson.

Binh also revealed that Vietnam has been investigating the case and punishing violators, while carrying out necessary measures to ensure security of Chinese and other foreign workers and enterprises in Vietnam.

China acknowledges the Vietnamese side's actions and attitude, said Hong.

Le Hong Anh, a Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, will visit China from Tuesday to Wednesday as the special envoy of Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei's Remarks
2014/08/25
Q: There are reports that Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson made a statement on the follow-up handling of the incident that happened in May targeting Chinese enterprises and workers. What is China's comment on this?

A: We have noted relevant reports. The Vietnamese side expressed their regrets for what happened to the Chinese enterprises and workers in May, and sadness at the injuries and deaths of Chinese workers. The Vietnamese side said that they will provide humanitarian compensation of certain form to the affected Chinese workers, and will send delegations to China to meet the representatives of those workers' families. Meanwhile, they will put in place policies and take measures to help and support the affected Chinese enterprises, carry on the investigation into the incident in a serious manner, punish the offenders severely and ensure the safety and security of Chinese personnel and enterprises in Vietnam. China acknowledges the steps and positions the Vietnamese side has taken, and hope earnest efforts can be taken to implement relevant measures.

They are not the same, the legitimacy of KMT is still based on chinese identity. Even if both are obstacles to reunification.

But their anti-CPC/pro-USA stance will not help them to view as the patriots in the eyes of the Chinese people.

Their anti-CPC/pro-USA stance is based on necessity of survival, if they are true chinese patriots they would have surrended when CPC proved their skill in leadership. It is their instincts of self-preservation, its only natural that patriotism would come second. At least KMT are trying to make excuses for delaying reunification. (Setting precondition of "democracy", knowing that another political transformation would disturb china for generations and nobody would care for reunification if it happens ) DPP is denying the existence and possibility all together

KMT is only pro-China by speech and by map, but from their actions, I don't see any pro-China sign.

They may be a little bit less anti-China than DPP, but it doesn't make a huge difference for us, they are still our enemies.
