Vietnam to build a high-speed train system

I don't know why many crazy for Pho, ... LOL
we have been using Pho everyday as breakfast, lunch or dinner.
So we consider it just like any fast food.
There're Pho 1.20 ; 2.5 ; 50 dollars... but average 1.50-1.70 in Vietnam

For westerners Pho is quite different and unusual and we are not used to rice noodles, it really taste different than any western food.

I eat the local version that is typical of central Vietnam (Mi Quang) everyday and I never get tired of it, usually with snake head fish (ca loc).

Same area in another place is only $25,000-40,000.
You must be more shocked if you know Vietnamese still could pay for such a house, studying their income... LOL.
Let try to figure out how, a guy with $500 salary could afford for luxury house and car.
It's possible.

Yes, I don't know how they do it, but they do it.

I can also say that there is quite a bit of people in Vietnam with a lot of money and quite a growing middle class in the main cities. This may not be easy to understand for people that are not used to Vietnam, but its true.

What @ComradeNam said about a lot of people running a cash economy that is not reported is true.

The first time i ever had pho was when i was still living in California, there's a lot of Vietnamese restaurants at the local campus there. At first, my impression of the food was that it was unique. I always found it interesting that the bean sprouts, leaves are set aside. I was quite picky about it at first --- i'm just used to Japanese style food where anything served is already prepared to eat.

Time changed my perspective. In time i then knew how much bean sprouts to put in my bowl, how much mint to put in, jalapeno peppers to put in (at first i didn't like the jalapeno pepper in my pho, but over time i loved putting as much as possible. The use of hoisin sauce, and sriracha sauce ...haha yum!

One thing i like about Vietnamese food is that it is similar to Japanese food in that we do not use too much oil in our food. Vietanmese food , too, do not use as much oil as in some other culinary dishes from other countries. There is a host of healthy food dishes in Vietnamese culinary choices.

Lastly, what i love about Pho is the choice of flank and beef cuts. The thin slices of raw beef is simply beautiful when mixed with the broth. Its fresh, i know that its fresh and not simply re-heated.

How much for your Mi Quang with snake head fish? I should know the price for next visit to your location. LOL
Vietnam in the bargain world too.

Remember, 10 years ago, the Chinese lady from Shandong come for the contract, she said to me she loves Vietnam fruits, and ask me for a small amount of Vietnam Dong to buy some fruits, she bargained hard to the seller ... LOL. It's very normal.

I don't want to admit but most of my income wasn't recorded.
Office for lease ; profit ; ...
I only report small part of my income about 6,000 dollars / years and pay 60 dollars for personal income tax. For the company I operating, only 1,000 dollars of company income tax.

Viet food is quite healthy, they are very serious about fresh vegetables, they put them everywhere.

The broth of the Pho is key, actually , the broth of Pho in central Vietnam is more tasty than the regular Pho, they put a lot of stuff in it and when you add the lettuce, etc into it, it becomes delicious because of the broth. Also, here, those lettuce are mixed with banana peel leaves which are cut very thin, they are tasty and very healthy; they also add other herbs, etc.

Very true, and that's one big issue that I have with a lot of chinese food, at least in southern china, too oily and the quality of the oil is low, that will you in due time.

I realized that , too ! There is very little oil in Vietnamese food, and there is always a lot of green veggies in their food. What i like the most (it may seem very simple to some Vietnamese here) is the goi cuon. It is so healthy, not fried. I've even tried making goi cuon at home and i like to use the thin vermicelli wraps. I experiment sometimes because sometimes i put shrimp, sometimes i put raw tuna, or even raw octopus / squid in the roll. Tho one thing i haven't perfected yet is how to make the peanut sauce dip, lol.

Amigo,

Have you ever tried Adobo? It is a Filipino dish --- one of my other favorite Southeast Asian dishes. The Filipinos have different types of adobo -- they have chicken (adobong manok), beef (adobong baka), pork (adobong baboy), and goat (adobong canding). The way they prepare the dishes is simple, and unique --- marinate the meat in vinegar, soy sauce, some coconut oil. Then add diced garlic, black pepper (whole or crushed), bay leaves, anise seeds.

Then cook !

I was told by Filipino friends that this dish -- Adobo -- is actually of Spanish origin. Interesting !!

Right, the Pho that I was talking about also uses some broken peanuts, they taste great in that broth and the oil is also peanut oil, but they don't use much.

I'm glad is lunch time right now, time to eat Pho!
