Vietnam targets $300 billion in exports by 2020

Since this has become a rice debate:D, how does Vietnamese rice taste/look like? Is it like Basmati rice from India (the best rice, Iranians always use that). It's nice and dry and doesn't stick to each other.

Good for Vietnam and good luck. Always happy to see a country rise economically. I just hope they realize their future lays in a peaceful relationship with China, and not to try to counter and obstruct them in every way. A LOT of Vietnam's economy is dependent on China's investments and trade. And a 6bn trade deficit isn't horrible if you consider your yearly trade of about 350 billion dollars.
we have nothing against the chinese, only are embittered about their constant bullyings, bore the brunt of their aggressions over milleniums. sure, if they begin to become more reasonable, looking at the broader picture, wishing a peaceful coexistance too and invest in vietnam with similar amount...like the japanese or koreans, we can double the bilateral trades virtually overnight. yes, you are right. trade deficit with china is bad but not a serious problem, as long as we achieve surplus with america and europe.

.
deficit comes from components that you need from China for export to US and EU..
In general VN looks very like 30 years ago when China just open up to the world and take over the cheap labor work.
Now China works on more valuable works and get more expensive.
So these cheap labor work has to be transferred to low paid countries like VN.
This is a must step to start your economy.
The problem is how to further develop your industry, make more profit than simple labor work..

More like 20 years, if u count growth rate to match China current GDP per capita 8000$/head (if growth equal or more than 6.5%, free trade deal can help boost 1.5% to 3% more GDP growth given the current situation thus it may take shorter time if it work smoothly. It is also correct in historic prespective as u guy reform and open economy 20 years before us and doesn't get the embargo and isolation

I never like the yellow one, only taste good if goes with tea, green one better :o::o:.

Almost all the Basa fish fillets here in Canada are imported from Vietnam. I think some of my sportswear, ties and shoes are also made in Vietnam. From what I've seen, it's mostly small manufacturing products.

some years ago,Vietnam grabbed the islands and Chinese could do nothing.
Now China cannot get them back?

However I like Yuanyang rice from Henan or rice from Northeast China, I don't like rice from Vietnam and Thailand. The rice granule of SEA rice is too solid.

Most Asians do not buy Vietnamese rice in Canada, including Vietnamese. They are cheaper than Thailand imported rice but most buy Thai rice here.

Stay away from basa fish. I don't even order that shit from restaurant. It's the cheapest fish, frozen and preserved with nasty chemicals. Also the water it comes from is extremely dirty.

Basmati rice is less sticky than the other "Asian" rice so it is better for frying. The regular white rice, Thai or Viet have been processed, bleached heavily. That's why it is white.
i just stick to eating brown rice.

Canada is too cold to grow rice but America can plant it. Why not to import from America, it's more convienent and cost-saved.

We do get rice from US but are more expensive than cheap Thai / Viet rice. The quality is a lot better.

Shocked. America is well-knew for its competitive price agricultural products. How can it be expensive than Thai / Viet rice?

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan discuss abt TPP deal in English (watch from min 16) VN will reach a much bigger market with bigger export oppotunity and of course it help VN to make bigger bucks

min 16:16 .More equipments (from TPP natrions not from China) will come to Vn at a lower cost, so we can speed up our industrialization........ :bunny:

Because in Canada people are complacent and vendors take advantage of this. When I was in USA, I saw fruits from Canada that were selling for cheaper in USA than in Canada.

Stop your bias, do little bit research before spill non sense. Basa fish is popular in many countries included Europe and U.S., if it is that bad it wont become popular. while you have a lot of time trash talk why not spend 1 minute google a fish called Basa, that would help you less of an idiot. Speaking of Frozen and Chemical which food in U.S. are not frozen and contain chemical? You speaking like you live near river which you can catch live fish for dinner all seasons.
