(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has expressed his delight at the constant development of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China as well as Yunnan province.

At a March 5 reception for Yunnan Vice Governor Liu Huiyan in Hanoi, Nhan said he is very impressed by the province’s ecological agriculture model, which has been applied in some localities in Vietnam with practical effects.

Nhan briefed the Chinese guest on Vietnam’s current socio-economic achievements, saying that the Vietnamese Government has managed economic growth flexibly, reaching over 5 percent.

He stressed that to foster economic development and cooperation between the two countries, Vietnam will complete the Hanoi – Lao Cai highway by 2014 as scheduled, while asking China to finish the Kunming – Lao Cai highway early to facilitate trade exchange.

First Sino-Vietnam expressway: the 600-km journey from Kunming, provincial capital of Yunnan, to Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, will be reduced to six to seven hours from 12-plus hours

The Yunan Vice Governor also expressed his impression at Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past years.

Over the past 20 years, total trade value between Yunnan and Vietnam has increased 125 percent, showing the unceasing development of the cooperation between the two sides.

Liu said he hopes with the combined efforts , infrastructure-related issues will be addressed soon to further boost bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two nations, Liu said.

My Question: Who is going to pay for it?

If VN asks China for a loan to pay for it, what does China get in return?

You should know that China is now pretty much a capitalist country now.

ADB, I think it must be do with international bid for selecting contractors. No related to China is better.

HA NOI, VIET NAM (26 September 2008) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Viet Nam today signed the agreement for the $1.1 billion loan to upgrade the Noi Bai-Lao Cai section of Kunming-Hai Phong Transport Corridor. The loan is the biggest single project financing in ADB’s history.

@ Rechoice:

Do not be so stubborn. ADB is now controlled by China and soon to be lead by a Chinese national. Last year, China blocked ADB loan to India for a project on Anurachai Pradesh, which China claims as Southern Tibet.

IMF or World Bank also have strong Chinese voices in them. Guess who they are going to listen: China or Vietnam? US or Europe: they are now too dependant on China, so they will not risk their fortunes for Vietnam.

You are liar, China can boycott only, not control.

At present, both the United States and Japan hold 1,656,189 shares each, the largest proportion of shares at 15.65% each.[3] China holds 684,000 shares (6.46 %), India holds 672,030 shares (6.35 %), the 2nd and 3rd largest proportion of shares respectively.:omghaha:

What you say does not make any sense at all. ADB may be led by a Chinese, but the bank does not belong to China. Otherwise the bank can be renamed to such as slave bank of China. :blah: :blah:

Some recent projects of ADB in Vietnam:

That´s true. BUT what is the relation to the loan financing the highway in VN? IMF and World Bank are not China´s entities!

China did not boycott only, they actually blocked it.

I do not go into detail about ADB share holders, it is none of my business, but China is in control of ADB in reality. If India and China share are almost similar, then China already bought the votes from Japan and US, and India could not. I believe both Japan and US agree that Anurachai Pradesh belong to India, but they backed down.

joke ! think first kid.:omghaha:

My Question: Who is going to pay for it?
Silly question. China pays for its part (Kunming to the CN-VN border), while VN for its part (Hanoi to VN-CN border).
If VN asks China for a loan to pay for it, what does China get in return?
You should know that China is now pretty much a capitalist country now.
If VN asks for a loan, CN will get it back with interests. What else?

The number of staff from Chinese National is not as big as Japan.

In ADB alone, The Voting power of China is still much lesser than Japan.

If we want to rank it, Top 5 Voting power share among Asia & Pacific countries will be:

1. Japan
2. China
3. India
4. Australia
5. Indonesia

Japan has the biggest voting power, the rest 4 countries share almost similar numbers, especially China and India.

China slams ADB over India funding

2009-06-19 00:13:26 GMT2009-06-19 08:13:26 (Beijing Time) SINA.com
BEIJING - China denounced Thursday the approval by the Asian Development Bank of a 2.9-billion-dollar funding plan for India, saying the scheme encroached on a territorial dispute between the Asian giants.
"The Asian Development Bank, regardless of the major concerns of China, approved the India Country Partnership strategy which involves the territorial dispute between China and India," foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang said, referring to a largely uninhabitable Himalayan region.
"China expresses its strong dissatisfaction over this... The bank's move not only seriously tarnishes its own name, but also undermines the interests of its members."
A bank spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that the plan had won "broad support" from the board of directors during a Monday meeting, but insisted it was not taking sides in the territorial dispute, only seeking to push forward its poverty alleviation efforts.
"ADB takes no position on territorial disputes between its members," ADB spokeswoman Ann Quon told AFP in an email.
"ADB will issue suitable guidelines for its staff on dealing with proposed activities in disputed areas... Individual projects and programmes will require separate approval by the board of directors."
According to India's Economic Times, the 2.9-billion-dollar package for India covers the whole country for the period from 2009 to 2012.
However, it says, China is particularly concerned about a 60-million-dollar watershed protection project in the Arunachal Pradesh region, where much of China and India's territorial dispute is centred.
"The Asian Development Bank as a regional development institution should not interfere in the political affairs of the members," China's spokesman Qin said.
"The Chinese government strongly urges the Asian Development Bank to take effective measures to eliminate the negative impact of this move."
The ADB's Quon said: "ADB's charter mandates that ADB shall not interfere in the political affairs of any member and that only economic considerations shall be relevant to its decision."
