It seems a military skirmish at SCS is almost inevitable. I still believe China is being lured into a trap. China should also prepare a plan to drag the US into a land battle if a conflict becomes inevitable at SCS. Things won't go as planned at SCS for China, so it will be wiser to avoid it at this point. China's defence production should be put on war footing immediately, the more time China gets before the conflict the better.

In my opinion the US will try its best to keep the conflict localized at sea for it has a great military advantage there. It's not clear to me how or why the US will be compelled to commit troops on land unless China opens up a front against one of its allies like india or South Korea and that is exactly what I've been suggesting to our Chinese friends.
