If the ship isn't armed with a missile it ain't really that dangerous & A fighter jet in a Coast Guard is about as subtle as Tank is for a border patrol

Missiles destroys boats, but machine guns or smaller cannons can still kill people. I can agree a fighter jet for coast patrol is overkill, but so is many things China do to assert its hold on neighboring islands and countries.

isn't China keeps sending its jets(Su-27s and SU-30s) in Japanese airspace??then why couldn't Vietnam do the same thing as well??They are "CLAIMING" that those islands are theirs,don't they??

What's with this cutesy question, don't you have any better question? Yes you can point a gun at someone else ship if they disobey your warning, but this takes place in a disputed water. No one can really tell where one country end & the other begin.
