What's new

Vietnam might soon announce its approval for BrahMos

Oh thank you, good info.

It seems like Vietnam is negotiating with European countries for more submarines.
The Italian S-1000 seems to be the one, they came to Vietnam for negotiations.

Yes , was a very good concept. It was on offer to us for the P75I competition, but the Italians later withdrew as it was a JV with Russia and US was pushing for sanctions on Russia by the west and allies. They offered to build 6 such submarines for about 8.5 Billion USD.

Considering that Vietnam is seriously looking for European options , I see only SAAB and TKMS as serious contenders , if Vietnam has concerns with DCNS after the recent .....

And how are the Kilos doing ? And when is the last one coming ? I think a couple of Kilos more now will be fine. And 6-8 European optios some 4-5 years down the line.

Yes, I also like the option from Saab.

The 5 Kilos are doing fine, a lot of training going on, 2 crews per sub are trained.

The last Kilo will be coming in the next few months.

If the first 2 boats of Vietnam navy is intended to be fit , I don't see a very big problem. The older and slightly smaller version of the same vessel used by Caspain Flotilla of Russia has been modified to carry and fire heavy Kaliber NK missiles.

Project 11661K 'Dagestan' as built 1 × 1 Kalibr-NK (note the hull strengthening beam)

Further the next 2 Ships under construction for Vietnam navy are an improvement too upon the earlier two , so fitting in a 8 cell ULVM capable of firing either BrahMos or a Klub won't be much difficult.

However I see @Penguin has went ahead and explained every thing.
:smart: sorry

India to help Vietnam build high-speed patrol boats in $100mn contract: ambassador

A US$100 million contract will be signed between Vietnam and India to provide the former with high-speed patrol boats within the framework of the upcoming official visit to Vietnam of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During an interview with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish has given some insight into the trip of Prime Minister Modi, scheduled for September 2 - 3.

This is the first visit to Vietnam of an Indian head of government in 15 years, Ambassador Harish stated, adding that many significant documents are expected to be signed between the two parties.

“The Indian leadership has focused on its Act East Policy in which our Strategic Partnership with Vietnam is a major pillar,” he said.

Collaboration between India’s M/s Larsen & Toubro Company and Vietnamese Border Guard is highly anticipated for the construction of high-speed patrol boats based on the Line of Credit of US$100 million, according to the diplomat.

“We expect conclusion of many agreements and MOUs in important economic, social and strategic sectors including in the fields of science and technology, information technology, defense and security, health, and especially cooperation in traditional medicine systems in our two countries,” he continued.

Vietnamese public servants and students will also be granted 200 scholarships to support their studies and research in India, Harish added.

Regarding the disputes in the East Vietnam Sea, the ambassador stated that the maritime area played an important apart in India’s global trade.

Mumbai supports the freedom of navigation and overflight, and unimpeded commerce in the seaway in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), he asserted.

The South Asian country believed that relevant parties should settle their differences using peaceful measures and not to apply force or the threat of violence for the sake of regional peace and stability.

Addressing the prospects of defense and security ties between India and Vietnam, Harish said there had been strong cooperation between the two militaries, primarily navies and coast guard forces.

The diplomat mentioned the successful visit to Vietnam of Indian defense minister Manohar Parrikar in June under the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Ngo Xuan Lich.

Vessels from the Indian naval force have also made frequent visits to Vietnam’s seaports, he said, adding that the current naval ties will also be fostered during the Indian Prime Ministers’ visit.

Thank you bro, what is very interesting there is that it says: TO HELP VIETNAM BUILD, no further elaboration, but that implies that some of the units will be built in Vietnam with India's assistance, makes sense?

may be some sub systems of the deal will be localised from Vietnam MIC. I dont think Larsen and Turbo has a big footprint there in Vietnam but they can open an office and may take it forward bcz as a conglomerate they are there in Engineering, Infra, Financial services, Defence , etc etc.. It may be a tie up with a shipyard as well to build more for future orders. Such things will be defined in near future based on cooperation and strategic relationship that we both countries build together.

Thank you, makes sense, plenty of thing going on between the 2 countries and we surely know enough just to scratch the surface.

Please let me know when you get more info :tup::tup:

I don't ethics happening as Vietnam can buy the original weapon frRussia instead of the downgraded export version. India need to build weapon for itself first before thinking about exporting.

As for Vietnam, ask Ecuador about made in India military exports. Make sure Vietnam can return with full money back warranty if the customer is not satisfied.

What about supplying Vietnam with Pragati Missile? It will be quite useful on SCS islands.

They can also ask Turkey and Israel.

Now take your butthurt elsewhere. Shoo.

What has India export to Turkey and Israel? The joint venture weapons that only India would induct, like Brahmos.

I asked because its the exact same helicopter they bought and operate without issues today.

But what can we expect of a person with 9000+ posts and 2 negative ratings with 0 positive ones?

India has exported Dhruv to Turkey & Israel too, Mr. Butt-hurt.

Now go troll elsewhere.

In very limited numbers. The trial use is a failure as they only bought them for evaluation purposes. No follow up purchases.
