Vietnam leads Asia for growth in convenience stores

Interesting to read how the number of convenience stores has been predicted to grow in South Korea, as I recently learned they are in fact disappearing these past few years with the increased presence of superstores.

There is a British clothing retailer called Superdry which many in UK also believe is Japanese

Apparently the Japanese text is gibberish and doesn't make any sense.

Even I almost fell for this and about to buy from their store. Having learned that that was not actually a Japanese company, my enthusiasm dwindled and I chose not to buy.

I would also get fooled if I am just a passer-by customer. It's probably marketing to make people think that they are offering Japanese-style service levels and fashion clothing.

We certaintly cannot compete with Vietnam on growth of convinient stores.

With a mere 30 million population, we already have 2,144 7-Eleven Stores in the country plus thousands of other branded franchised convinient store. With such saturated situation, 10.5% growth rate is all we could managed.

Vietnam should aim for 5,000 convinient stores.
Vietnam is a late comer. 5,000 is a conservative number. The domestic chain VinMart+ plans to have 3,000 stores this year alone.

Man testing on korean and japanese language is a joke. The article says MINISO makes the highest sales record on the opening days ever. The company opens 300 stores in Vietnam within one year. That is not too bad for a small fish.

Hopefully, they will open even more. Vietnam is one of the future growth markets for many consumption oriented industries due to its growth potential, momentum, and population.

I think they are also hoping to benefit from the technological reputation of Japan; SuperDry makes strong emphasis on high-tech fabric like Uniqlo.

The Taiwanese have more confidence to Vietnam.

We all do. Mainland China is more embedded in Vietnam economy than us in Taiwan Province.

You even have cross border electricity transmission lines, which means a high level of trust.

Taiwanese are just very savvy businessmen. Ruthless, as well.

Should be the case but until now Taiwanese money flowing to Vietnam is multiple times higher than of China. In the meanwhile the Japanese don't sit idle. The retailer Aeon plans to open 500 stores.
