Now,as from the above article it is established that Indian Navy trains Vietnamese navy personnel, I'd wonder if Vietnam would object to have an Indian training naval base in Vietnam.

What you talking man?We poor Indians go to Vietnam to learn how to sail a ship. The mighty Vietnamese can defeat India anyday in Thailand. And moreover our navymen get to eat good food as we all know in India we guys remain hungry and have nothing to eat.

Moreover dont post such articles as the east asians know what evil Indians are upto and have no respect for Indians...all they respect is the "CHINESE" language. :)

:lol:And don't forget our Indians naval officers get Toilets, literacy programs, free from caste or religious discrimination, and most importantly they are provided decent living quaters, unlike back in India where they have to live in slums.

Vietname should train the Indian troops to increase India's combat capability.
What's wrong with you? Everytime you are hiding behind the US image and trolling in every such thread. We don't need American protection unlike your country which relies on US CBG to protect yourself from the PLA across the straight.

Here the thread was about a strategic alliance with Vietnam to possibly counter the PRC's influence in the region. If you're really a Taiwanese, you should be happy. On the contrary your irritation whenever mainland is criticized shows something else.

If Vietnamese allow us a base and in return we further our military cooperation in terms of material, it is called a good partnership. Why should it bother you as an American or as even a Taiwanese? You're not on our threat list in any form or intention.

Good, calling me grey boy now? so will you happy if i call you curry boy? stop personal attack please, ask Mod to give answer to your stupid question? don't act like a women bitching at me ok? :argh::hang2:
You're the first Thai who is showing so much hostility towards India. I've been to Bangkok but found Thais very friendly. Just admit you're a CCP agent behind a Thai flag.

Why don't you keep your actual flags here and talk rather than hide behind other flags? Think you can make us talk nonsense against other countries?

No need to go that far buddy,Hez just one Thai fanboy afterall

I feel that we have been slightly late in considering Southeast Asia as a great region of potential trade, excellent bilateral trade relations and mutual trust-building. But it is not so late now. It is good that our government karmcharis woke up at the right time.

Perhaps we must further this strategic cooperation by offering critical equipment to them such as:

1) Nag (already being used in 3 countries)

2) Dhruv (both utility variant and the newly developed gunship)

3) Arjun (can replace some of their older tanks in few numbers)

4) Tejas Mk1 & Mk2 (can play a complementary role alongside their brand new Russian Sukhoi fighters)

5) Thorium based nuclear energy that has been successfully tested in our country.

6) Dhanush ( ship-based S/M RBM)

I think if military diplomacy is the best way to start a new political friendship and trust building alongside agreeing for a FTA similar to the one with Israel. We might not be a manufacturing-oriented economy but even with our knowledge-based economy we can work wonders with the Vietnamese. Not to mention massive investments by companies like Reliance, TATA, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, Birla industries, etc.

Similar approach must be made with Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Burma. Though Burma has significant Chinese influence. It is embarrassing that despite historical cultural links with entire Southeast, we have been needlessly running behind already developed countries for too long.

Vietname should train the Indian troops to increase India's combat capability.

That would be funny, considering that PLA officers trained and supervised North Vietnam's first professional army.

After this request by Ho Chiminh, the PRC in April of 1950 would begin forming the Chinese Military Advisory Group (CMAG) in order to provide military assistance to the Vietnamese forces fighting the French. General Wei Guoqing would lead the CMAG to North Vietnam, along with Senior General Chen Geng, the “scholar general,” and the PRC ambassador. The Second, Third and Fourth PLA field armies were directed to select experienced officers for service in Vietnam. Some 281 officers were selected with many having command experience.

Ho Chiminh would formally request military aid in the nature of equipment, advisors and training for the PAVN in April of 1950. Interestingly enough he would also request Chinese commanders at the regimental and battalion level to assist the Vietnamese Army, a request wisely denied by China, who would send advisors, not commanders to the North of Vietnam. [23] Such a request for Chinese commanders of PAVN units highlights the leadership problems present at the time in the Vietnamese forces, and the prevailing lack of confidence in Vietnamese commanders.

Sir...National Pride is both good and bad...Good if used in positive way and bad if it blinds us....Let me dwell more into your post.....

wake up and take notice of what??? Let's not forget we have about 30% of our population under poverty line....80% of our defence equipments are imported.....Mumbai happened just couple of years ago...and Kargil just a decade ago where world has seen how porous our borders are.....Yes we are improving but there is hell lot of things we still have to do....There is not much for the world to notice here apart from out lucrative markets......First let's achieve the target and all the noticing will happen on its own.....Remember we are yet a third world country.....On top of that our strategic doctorine is about regional influence and IOC being our backyard....If we achieve that we are good.....So sorry to say but whatever you are saying is nothing but exterme nationalism defying logic.....

Market yourself by having a naval base in South China???? Sorry sir that don't make sense....If you want to market yourself like China then emulate them in being the power house of manufacturing....Both the countries started at pretty much same economic situation way back in 1950's....In 6 decaded they have surpassed us on almost every field...Be it economics, be it Military, be it influence in the world....

Just to let you know even after being light years ahead then us they still don't have a naval base in IOC...That's why i said have a base similar to what China has in IOC....This itself is a good enough message....Though Chinese excuse/reason for those basis are purely economics....Not sure what kind of trade/shipping routes that we will have to save in South China...Nevertheless a base would be good in the long run...As of now it simply don't make sense....

Practically of no use to us....Even in war we will not be going to South China...That would be suicide...All we need to ensure is PLAN should also feel the same when thinking about IOC....

Pretty much agree here....However you don't need a naval base to make someone your ally....Remember NAM...Even duting the height of Cold War when our arch rival was cozing up with US and her(US) role in 1971 we did not join WARSAW....

Dude you are seriously overestimating our capabilities...As of now we don't have a capacity to even have military role in AF leave aside Vietnam....

This is not 1962....Our forces do not need to go for Guerrilla Warfare to counter any agression on our side...We are the world 4 largest Army for god's sake....At one point you overestimated our capabilities...and here you underestimated them.....

Look if you want to Compare us with China then remember it would be suicide of taking offence to them....However if we manage to set the same expectations with China then our job is done...As of now we can only give them a very bloody nose....We need to achieve the suicide phenomenon and the way we are mordinazing we will achieve it soon....

Debatable but have no serious issues with it....No doubt Military trainings transforms Boys to Men....

No doubt about it....Who would want a potential adversary to cosy up with countries you had war with??? However ther debate is about having a naval base....If you agree that it do not make sense then i have no disagreement with rest of your post.....

Extreme nationalism is what made Germany a power to reckon with. Poverty is an issue that India faces tremendously but it is due to the ill governance of our politicians. How come we don't have more capital punishment for corruption? Why not? Why not for ****? It is a prone fact that Mayor Giuliana of Nyc made it safe by introducing harsh penalties for crimes. It had a great effect on the crime effect in the city.

Extreme nationalism will not get you any where..look at the same germany's history. And capital punishment for corruption..lol.
it would be like chopping hands for theft.this is not action movie where hero or angry young men do this kind of justice.

I believe a nation like India could use a healthy dose of nationalism.....to inspire and mobilize the youth. Look at how germany transformed itself......look at Japan....look at China! Forget chopping off hands, two to the back of the head is more like it. Corruption is a problem that won't go away easily, maybe never! But what capital punishment will do is instill fear in those who haven;t committed a crime yet. Why are we scared to do what others won;t or cannot. China does and so does Saudi Arabia. YOu and others may think its ridiculous, but Mr. Murthy of Infosys thinks just like me and even suggested the same. If 1 out of 3 are corrupt in India....then this is the only solution in order to rid such practices in future generations.

problem is with enforcement of the law..not toughness.what happens is every time something happens people will make punishment tougher and this process will make punishment is more than required enough for the commited crime.
more fast delivery of law (more courts, judges,) better enforcement (more cops, police stations, equipments, anti corruption dept, )awareness in public, law like RTI,media freedom etc will reduce corruption.
